I do like the simplicity of the circuit for a single pickup guitar. This is the wiring diagram and electronics setup for my '60s Japanese starter guitar I have been tinkering with on and off for the last couple months. I think we are getting to the home stretch. I like to use as much of the legs on the tone capacitor as I can when wiring something up. Tomorrow I will do the soldering.JapJuniorElectronics.jpgWiringDiagram.jpg

Very cool. Show us the rest of it?
My buddy is a bit of a collector. Last year we started getting together every Tuesday night to play. Each Tuesday he’d bring his Yamaha acoustic that he played all the time and one other from his collection just to show me. It took quite a few months before I saw them all but a couple were these neat little Japanese electrics from the 60’s and 70’s. Probably wired up something like yours.

I will post more pics as I get this one going back together.

This is a rabbit hole into which I've fallen far deeper than the guitar itself.
You can't call yourself a guitar junkie till you've zapped up a TS 808 clone.
I've 3D printed pedal enclosures to house breadboards to support my 6 TL072 a week habit.

IIRC, single coil pickups were often 250K/.047uF and Humbuckers were 500K/.022uF.
What reading do you get with a meter set at Ohms?
Single coil or Humbucker?
I have schematics for most Fender guitars and amps, from an earlier life.

It is a vintage style neck P90 which are a bit warmer and I wanted to keep the more high end, so I went with the 500K pots and .022 cap. This was also the most recommended combo for P90 when I went searching the internet.

Finished up the Sorrento single pickup guitar today. The wiring was all soldered up this morning and checked. This afternoon I installed the pickguard with the new electronics. I then installed a Les Paul style bridge in the proper location, unlike the original, which was about 3/16 off. Now the intonation is spot on. I was about a millimeter or so off getting the P90 pickup centered, but I am not going to worry about it. The relief is now .012, which is half what it was before. The action height is 2.0mm on the low E and 1.75mm on the high E. I did not realize at the time I bought the new bridge that it was a 12 inch radius, which was not mentioned in the description. If it was a 9.5 inch radius instead I would be able to drop the action a bit more. Not going to complain though since the action was between 5 and 6mm when I got the guitar.

I think it should be playable now. I need to contact my amp tech and set up a time to take a couple of these guitars up to his shop so he can test them out for me and let me know what he thinks of the setups. I will try and remember to get some video/audio of it when I do.1JapaneseSorrentoRestomod.jpgSorrento1.jpgSorrentoNeckWork.jpg
