“Until now, unlicensed individuals couldn’t ship firearms themselves—but that’s changed! With GunBroker.com Shipping, you no longer need to visit an FFL to have them ship your firearm through a major carrier.
GunBroker has partnered with UPS to allow individuals without an FFL to ship firearms through our system—securely and in full compliance with regulations. Our system ensures your firearm is shipped only to a licensed dealer who will receive and transfer it to your buyer. This guarantees that all firearm shipments follow the proper legal procedures.”
Just a moment...

Been reading elsewhere that UPS and its insurer have a wrinkle whereby unless you have a contract with UPS, the insurer does not cover guns. I wonder if GB has decided to step in a help out.

There is another wrinkle that will have to be worked out. GunBroker has not shown itself to be very helpful when things go badly on one of their auctions. It's going to be interesting to see how much help they will be when there is an issue with a lost or stolen gun.

What reading the linked UPS regs confirms to me is that when using ShipMyGuns it is now, indeed, okay to drop off the packaged and prepaid labeled firearm at a local UPS store. No need for a UPS Customer Service Center at a UPS hub.

Good to see that confirmed.

(If a non FFL, and not using an approved, firearms shipper with a UPS contract, looks like UPS pick up at one's home is the only option.)

Anyway, glad to see this. More options for non-FFLs is better.

A friend of mine ships guns UPS every once in a while. Contents? A drill.

UPS may not be what it once was. But it’s still the most reliable, timely carrier.

UPS dropped my shotgun off at an interior decorators business next door to an FFL. The FFL business closed but they told me after they agreed to take it and I had it shipped to them. I had to contact the FFL who shipped it to find out what UPS did with it. I went and retrieved it. What they did was illegal.

So I wouldn't say they're on top of every situation. Just my experience.

FedEx and USPS require an adult signature. UPS will leave it on your porch. But this is a driver issue not policy issue.

Some years ago I attempted to ship a shotgun but the USPS clerk would not accept it. I read the postal regs as saying that USPS will accept long guns from unlicensed individuals for shipment to a FFL but not handguns. But if the counter clerk will not accept a long gun, there is no recourse other than try again at another post office.

Didn’t there used to be some company that shipped guns for individuals? Not UPS or FedEx.
