I hope this is the right section for this.

I would like to hear how you are storing and organizing all your cleaning / maintenance stuff. Tackle box? tote? Ammo can?

Right now I have all my stuff in a Plano ammo box I got at Cabelas, it works great but I have outgrown it. I like to be able to store my cleaners right side up and not on their sides where they are prone to leaking. I would be nice to better organize my bore brushes, maybe a tackle box type setup?

Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, and what you all are currently using that works for you would be appreciated.

I use a plastic ammo style box for home with extras in it and then have an old Army mechanics bag that I tote the essential stuff in if I have to take cleaning gear with me.

For my 1911 .45 caliber items I have a large Dillon Precision plastic box that I keep those items in. That way I have that caliber all together with the bushing wrench.

I don't think there's anything better than a Plano tacklebox or equivalent. Mine has 3 slide out drawers of different sizes. The top section under the lid is good for patches, short rods and bore guides. A couple drawers have compartments for small items like jags. The bottom drawer is large enough for solvent bottles. Good things is that solvents don't seem to mess up the plastic. I don't care much for hinged trays that open up like stairsteps or for removable trays.

I notice you mention "cleaning / maintenance." My cleaning stuff goes into the above-mentioned Plano box. Tools and other fiddly bits for handloading and working on my guns go into a different tool box. Try as I might, the goo from gun cleaning spreads around the box, so I keep the other stuff separated.

I don't know how much room you have for your box but a tackle type box would be way to small for my needs.
Here's a picture of my shop, if you look just behind the blue parts storage box hanging on the wall to the right, you'll see my black roll around tool box that contains all my cleaning supplies.

Big yellow box is a cleaned up dumpster dive, used for extra cleaning supplies, hammer /punch kit .Small parts on top snap caps, shotgun swabs, jags and screwdriver bits. Black tool box is handgun cleaning stuff ,have old toaster oven tray on the bottom . I threw away a plastic Otis kit that stank nasty from leaked bore solvent.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
I want something tote like in size, maybe 2 totes like jbtrucker would work.

I clean in the garage and like to keep all my supplies inside, especially when the temps get below freezing. So being able to easily carry them around is important.

Three tier plastic fling cabinet type thing. Three deep drawers (10" deep or so) right on my work bench. One draw for cleaning solvents and oil, one for rods and brushes and tools, top one for patches, bore snakes, q-tips, etc. Got it for a few bucks at Walmart. I could never fit everything I have into a tackle box.

I have also used Plano brand tackle/storage boxes for my tools and cleaning supplies over the years. Very convenient to store cleaning supplies, larger tools, and cleaning rods in the top of the box under the lid.....and your smaller tools/parts in the drawers underneath. Drawers lock when the lid is closed.

The "four drawer tackle box" is what I used for my armorer tools and supplies, including parts and guages. Many different sizes and designs are available, depending on your needs. Smaller, compartmentalized boxes are also available for small parts and such.

Plano box purchased in 1980 is still in use. Just a heads up....Plano no longer offers a "limited lifetime warranty" on their products like they did in year's past.

I used to fish a lot and I have that EXACT tackle box for all my fishing gear. I hadn't thought of that but I will have to take a look, I may pick up another one.

Yep! That's very much like mine. I sure didn't pay THAT much though! OK.... back in the 80's anyhow.

My cleaning tools and equipment are all stored in a few Craftsman Tool Box draws and the chemicals & rods are stored in a grey steel HD storage cabinet.

Thanks for sharing the nice picture of your shop.

I recycled my old kitchen cabinets to my garage shop, and have one drawer for cleaning stuff and small spare parts.
The most useful thing I've done in that drawer is to put jags and bore brushes in Altoids tins and label each one by caliber. I also store the myriad small Dremel tools the same way - polishing in one tin, cutting in a couple others, grinding in another, laser and sight adjusting tools in another, small pin punches in another - works well for me.
Solvents, greases, oils, bluing, glue bottles and tubes are in a shallow upper cabinet that has adjustable shelves for height so I can stand them all upright. Not being too deep, I can easily see what's there and get it out w/o much trouble.

Great idea storing the jags and brushes by caliber in separate tins.

I don't take a kit to the range, so my cleaning stuff is pretty cumbersome. Most stored in a large wooden Remington shot shell box like the one in the picture. The S&W revolver stuff is stored in the tackle-esque box it came in from armorer's school, and the random patch rod, cleaner and oil is laying about the bench . . .
