My wife got it for me from a 90 year old lady at a bingo game. I know nothing about it.

The other option is a 38 Hand Ejector Military & Police, Fourth Change. We need the serial number off the butt to determine the age and exact model and check for a "V". Is there any stamping left on the side of the barrel that states the caliber?

Affirm, it's probably a butchered S&W Victory Model from WWII - probably used by the British. They were originally not plated, and the barrel has been choppped off. It's also likely the chambers have been bored out to accept .38 Special cartridges. It has no collector value.
The serial number is necessary to say more about it. Probably will be V xxxxxx.
