Gun sales jump once again

I worked on and off in a local gun shop when Clinton was in office. He was the best thing to happen to that shop's bottom line.

We shouldn't have to fear for our civil liberties everytime someone is killed. No body goes out stockpiling gas, cars, or alcohol everytime there is a fatal DUI accident. The simple fact is that any object with a legitimate purpose can be subverted for illegal or immoral uses. People abuse, and misuse everything, food, drugs, alcohol, credit, cars, etc, etc. In fact I am pretty sure more people are injured and killed by car accidents than firearms each year. Silveware and fast food have contrinbuted to more obesity related deaths than firearms. However, no one is up in arms to get rid of cars, forks, or McDonald's. Perhaps the real motivation behind the gun control movement is not really public safety? Hmmmmm????

My guess is there was even a higher increase of high-capcity mags sold. I noticed that Midway sold out of GLOCK 33rd mags early Monday and show no expected availability till mid March.

I've been saying this since Sunday......"Cue the knee jerk panic buying!"

If you want bulk 1,000 round cases of ammo, get it now or else you won't see it until April if we're lucky. The "panickers" are online now blowing their paychecks on ammo, I can see the ammo sites I use with "live" inventory, the amount of in stock .380 and 9mm is ticking down every hour.

People panicked in 2008, clearing shelves of ammo they didn't even need, when there would have been plenty if people weren't buying 200 boxes at a time......remember the 2 box limits on .380 seen at gun shops? I do......also remember prices were lower before the 2008 panic buy.......once ammo makers know we will pay $18 for a box of 9mm or .38, they aren't about to lower the price.....

There are Democrats like Rep. Frank being quoted in news articles starting to admit that, paraphrased quote "in this Tea Party and strongly conservative House and Congress, we will have great difficulty pushing through any magazine ban or stronger limitations on gun buying at this time......" In other words, the anti-gun Dems are going to try to bide their time until they feel they can push these bills through. All their quotes seem to say "now is not the time, but not saying we won't revisit a ban in the future". We can't let the liberals regain control or we will all pay dearly.......

Arizona lawmakers are starting to look like they will expand gun laws and right to carry, not restrict. The new "freshman" class of Republicans seems to think that gun laws should be left in the hands of the states, not D.C.

Stantheman86, I certainly hope that things don't revert back to the Clinton days. However, this doesn't mean we can sit back and do nothing. Instead of stock piling ammo people need to get involved. Tell your legislators what you think and to focus on real problems like the economy. Crime is an ever present evil in any society, and no amount of legislation will make it go away.

I think people are packrats by nature, and any breath of a rumor of any kind of magazine or ammo ban and some of the same people who were out in Nov. 2008 clearing the shelves of Gander Mt. of every piece of 30-06 and .380 are gonna be back out again, driving up ammo prices. They are also going to be buying every magazine over 15 rounds they can find, try finding a 33 round Glock mag for any realistic price. Right now all the sellers on GunBroker are hitting the "edit auction" button to jack up the prices on their mags. Then, when there is no ban, new factory hi-cap mags will be $20-40 more because manufacturers now know people will pay it.

Smart people started "stocking up" on ammo years ago, so there is no need to "panic" now......good thing I have enough .223 and 8mm Mauser to supply a Battalion=)
