Hey all, I'm a newbie here so please bare with me.

Found a 686 3'' non fluted, no lock, L frame and picked it up yesterday. Adj rear sight and red front sight, bead stainless finish. CDJ serial prefix and 149137 product code. Mainly curious about it, any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Will try to post a couple pics.

HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY?

I was curious as to what you paid for it, very nice looking Smith!

Thanks.

I thought it was high, but its such a clean and well kept weapon. $599.00, includes the box and all paper work and manual.

How'd I do?

I don't think you paid too much at all. That is a sweet looking blaster - congrats!

That is a very nice piece. I got lucky and got a CS-1 in three inch but that non-fluted cylinder has a "look" to it.

Good find.

That's a really neat configuration. I bet the unfluted cylinder adds just enough weight to moderate the recoil a bit. Looks nice, too.

Nice find. 3" .357s are great; I wish I had one.

Welcome to the forum Mike - I think you did really well!

That a FINE looking weapon, and seems like a really good price to me. Congrats.

I am having a very hard time welcoming you, especially when you stol...er..aquired that 686 for what you paid! Oh well, great score. I would have been all over that like ticks on a hound. WELCOME!

Welcome aboard.
That product code lists a 3 inch, 7 shot, bead blast finish, unfluted cylinder. The CDJ4XXX is correct to that revolver.
I have never noticed one of these before. Not sure how rare it is, but I like it.
Is that a dash 5 (located on the frame when you open the cylinder, 686-?)

Wow you know your S&W. Yes - 5 it is.

Thanks for all the comments.

If I had found this a year ago I might not have bought all those Sig Sauers, not that owning 3 Sigs is a bad thing...

Welcome to the forum! Great find, I have not seen one of those. I would have paid that for it and then some. YA DONE GOOD!

I have a 3" non fluted 629-5 and it is one of my favorites. Your 3" 686 is a beauty. I think you would have regrettit it if you let that one slip away.

Welcome to the forum.
That's one of the 3" 686 variations I do not have.
If you ever decide to part with it I have some neat trade options!
Congrats!

Another pic. Some people are telling me its a limited run? The box label does say Spec. Ord. 0229 ?
