Gun Shop Types

We have what I call a "Mom & Pop" gun shop in town. Been around for years. Can find NOS stuff stuck in out of way places in the store. Some new stuff and guns, but 80%+ of the guns are used. Neat stuff hiding there.... Guess that is a store #2 on your list.

There was a pawn shop that a had a lot of turn overs, people and guns, in the gun section. They were nice folks, but they didn't seem to know what was going on. They also had a bunch of problems with the FFL - I'm guessing folks not doing the paperwork right.

There were some steaming deals because they didn't know what they had. They had giant a magazine bin. There were some great deals if you knew what's what.

I loved going there, I was there twice a week.

I don't get number one.

8 k 2011?

3 b&t or q products??

Could you put that in English?

I was in a #5 pawnshop earlier for a pickup. Everything done except the BGC. That started at about 1:30pm. So I skulk, finger the phone, pace, ask about the "$4,000 gold plated, including the drum magazine, AK pistol", go back to skulk/pacing until about 3pm. I tell my friend: "Call me when it comes back, I live 3 miles away." Depart about 3:15 and sure enough, 3:17 I get the call for approval. At least in the pouring rain I hadn't gone far. I'm sure the customers selling their stuff on Monday to get through the week were creeped out by the "old Gringo" pacing about but hey, I fit right in. Joe

I bought a M1911 slide at our LGS today. Noticed that they had several folks waiting to get calls back on background checks.

Saw the headline and thought that this was a thread about old
codgers that haunt #2 type shops to drink their coffee and give
out useless/incorrect advice to customers.:)

In WNY we had a pretty good gun store. The Buffalo Gun Center. They always had what you were looking for. Huge selection of used guns. Problem is the manager was jerky, and 9 out of 10 employees treated you like you were an idiot. Ask a question and you either got an eye roll or a lecture. If you looked at something and didn’t buy it you were frowned upon. They were getting a little better then suddenly the owner wholesaled everything and closed up shop. He retired. Now that they’re gone I miss them.

Damn, I haven't heard/read "high speed, low drag" for maybe decades. But, that was before "operator".

The closest local shop near to the #1 category seems to have a number of staff who give off the "wannabe" vibe. They seem to talk too much to be real deal. Maybe support for actual folks who did the real thing?
