Gun Show 617...You like?

I'm one of those lucky individuals who has a 4" -1. I'm putting an average of 200 rounds a week through it and have done that more or less consistently since I bought it about 5 years ago. My guess is that I've fired at least 30,000 rounds with the gun. It shows no wear whatsoever, continues to lock up as tightly as any handgun I own, and has laser-like accuracy. What more can I say?

Nice 617's.
I've been looking for one for a while. Preferably a 4" pre lock.
Went to Cabela's today and there lay a very nice 617-1 6" with combat stocks. They were firm on their price at $600 so I said I'd walk around and think about it for a while.
I caught up to my wife in the shoe department and she shows me a coupon we recieved in the mail from Cabela's last week. Any purchase over $500 gets $100 discount.
Went directly back to the gun counter and bought it for $500 otd.
Now I also still need to find a 4"
Good luck with your search. I hope you enjoy yours as much I'm going to enjoy mine.

Can someone explain the non lockup to me on the older 617s? I am looking at a new one and don't know the difference I am new to revolvers I only know I shot a demo 617 at the range and it felt good and was accurate.

Thanks

it's an extra lock S&W put on many of their current revolvers. It locks the trigger from being pulled if you choose to engage it. I think most gun owners, like myself, don't use it and don't give it a second thought. Other's despise it.. it is what it is, If you found a gun you like, buy it..

Nice 617's!

Here's mine, I added an SDM fiber optic front site, and Hogue Grips. I'm not too thrilled about the color of the grip, but I got it at a ridiculously low price, so it will be there until I find something better looking.
