I hadn't been to a Gun Show in 10 years-so, I decided to go last weekend. Well, I found my first, 6" Model 19-4. It was made in 1980. See whatcha think of it?
That looks fantastic,it is a keeper for sure.Does one of those boxes belong to your new gun?I need to find myself a 6" model 19,preferably a model 19-7.

Yes, my model 19-4 is definately a keeper! No, neither of the boxes ib the above photos are original to this gun. The gun show seller's place of business was out of Town approximately 80 miles away, and he forgot to bring the box to the show. So, I'll have to wait to receive the box via USPS!
I was actually keeping an eye out for a model 14. However, I wasn't expecting to find a nice model 19-4 either. So, I decided to go forward and not pass up this 19-4! I'll mostly be shooting .38's and/or .38 + P's and just a few .357's in this revolver. at the Range. And, I agree that the 6" model 19 is a handsome revolver plus, I like it's classic short barrel lug. I'm not too keen on full lug barrel revolvers.
Nice find for sure. I have been wanting a 6" and a 2 1/2 " M19 for some time but can only find 4's around my parts. Nice picture next to your Sword (Bible) :0)!
In the past, I wasn't interested in buying 6" revolvers-so, I was unaware of these being harder to find than my preferred, 4" barrel choice-since I wasn't paying much attention to this. Once I started looking for a 6" model 19 I couldn't find one-except for the above 19-4 that I found at a recent gun show! Heck, I couldn't even find a 6" Ruger Security-Six-and, I used to commonly see these in gun shops.
Great looking gun! Did you get the original grips or did those come with the deal?
I recently got the urge to find a 6" S & W also, not looking for any one model in particular, and was lucky enough to find a 19-5 on GB. Started at only $275 and no one else bid on it, my guess is it described and showed a little rust on the barrel. But here it is all cleaned up (with two swipes of the Big 45 Frontier cleaner, which worked exactly as advertised!).
We took it to the range for the 2nd time today and it is a marvelous shooting gun. My 14 year old was hitting the circles the first shots out.
Nice ---- I used to own one just like it except my grips weren't smooth and mine was shipped in 1976. I enjoyed it a lot -- I'm sure you will enjoy that one, too.
The six inch dosent have the sex appeal of the four incher's, but man do they shoot! I have a six inch dash six that shoot's right there with my M-14's.
