So, we are having a gun show this weekend here in Norfolk and I'm going window shopping. I just wanted to get this out there for any of the forum members that are close by and didn't know about it. Hopefully the prices are not that bad. Maybe I can find the .300 blackout barrel I'm looking for.

If it's anything like the last 2 in Roanoke, the selection will be slim and the prices out of sight, no ammo,no lead, primers, powder, etc.
Hope your luck is better on your side of the state..

Good hunting, waiting for the show to come to Dale City, VA next month.

I am traveling for work so went to a gun show in Hampton, Virginia Saturday, $8 with coupon no parking fee. While people were complaining about it being crowded it was nothing like the insanity of the shows in California. I managed to pick x100 pieces of once fired Federal nickel plated brass for $20, a few spare parts for my lower for $6. MagPul 30 round magazines were going for $40, looked at a Colt 20 round Magazine for $25, and ThermaMold 20 rounders were going for $10. All the 223/5.56 I saw was going for $1 per round! Not much in the way of reloading supplies.

A few days before I did better at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Picked up 2 bulk packs (150 rounds each) of UltraMax 223 at $60 each and 4 boxes (20 rounds each) of PMC Bronze at $9 each for my 6 box limit.

The Local Bass Pro had .224 bullets for reloading. Since plinking with 223 is a thing of the past, for me at least, I’ve been reloading “premium” bullets and limit myself to 40 maybe 50 rounds per trip to the range. I bought 2 boxes of x50 Barnes Triple-Shock 55gr FBHPs, 2 boxes of x100 Hornady FMJBT, and one x250 box of Hornady 50gr A-Max.

Was watching Powder Valley on line and picked up an 8# tin of CFE 223 for $140.

Cheers from Virginia,
W-W

.300 blackout is THE way to go. After you jump into that round, you will forget all about the 5.56. I never thought i'd give up my 5.56, but now i realize ive been lying to myself all this time.

The .300 blackout is exactly what the 5.56 should have been to start with.

I'm debating on attending the Chantilly show. Like many, I'm looking for ammo or reloading supplies....just not in the mood to get raped over it though.

If your going for ammo or relaoding suppies you'll be better off keeping an I out a Dick's or Bass Pro. Over the past three weeks I've scored 500 rounds of 223 from Dicks and 300 223 Hornady and Barnes bullets from Bass Pro along with other odds and ends. I also lucked out and found 8# of CFE 223 at Powder Valley Inc for $139 less shipping and fees. There are still deals out there to be had, however I have not been getting much work done either.

I thought it was good entertainment for $8. Even found a few thngs I needed.

Don't get me wrong, I did find some powder there at a cheaper price than could find locally(kind of). But I only saw three magpul mags and one vender wanted $60 and the other wanted $50.

It was good entertainment, but I have had better luck finding componenet and ammo at Bass Pro and Dicks. I think a lot of the ammo I did see at the Hampton gun show did come from Dicks or WalMart $9 maked up to $20 for a box of x20 ouch! One guy did have some boxes of x30 IAI stuff for $27. If the lines had been too long I'd have gone to the movie and caught an early show for $5.
