I work at a LGS and its getting to be sad. The dealers are still getting their stock at the same price but are jacking the prices up because they see what everyone else is getting. .223 ammo went from $8.99/20 to $13.99/20. they are still getting it for like $5.50/20. On the rifles M&P15OR is now selling for $1499.99, used to be $949.99. Places are getting greedy.

What we need to do is convince everyone to not buy anything for 2 weeks so everyone will drop their prices back down.

Here's another, Ruger SR556FB, We used to sell them for $1899.99 now $2899.99. Crazy and sad

Gun show in Roanoke, VA today. Went hoping to get a 25 rd mag for less than $75.00. One of the first booths I saw was well stocked with everything but the 25 rd. mag. All of her merchandise was priced with nice little stickers. All along the bins were note cards stating that everything was selling at 2TIMES the marked price! TWO TIMES! I don't know how she sold anything at all. No other vendor was that obvious with the gouging.(I didn't price any guns, tho). Unbelievable to me.
I kept walking, and found two brand new in the package S&W 25 rd mags for $35.00 each. BOUGHT THEM! Mission accomplished.
Hopefully the fever will die down soon.

crazed knee jerk reaction buying just like 1994. We have basically one LGS and then the big box stores. Owner of the LGS is refusing to mark up his prices so that is great, but he will be out of stock consistently. around here, they put their friggin little lap dogs in baby strollers and go down the skinny rows!!!!!
Got 3 boxes of SS .22, going out after rabbits again in a couple hrs. lot better than the gun show. Our local one out west that travels is "Murphys" he is notorious for table prices so you have to figure that into product cost to the end user as well.
Hell my LGS just had a HUGE sale on everything in the store, put a Serbu super shorty SG in layaway for $565, just because it was the same price as always, a $5 tax stamp, and will be great for a truck gun. that was the only one i thought they would perm ban just like the street sweeper, should have kept mine, many, many moons ago, but who knew? my stamp collection grows....................................

Went into my LGS about 3 weeks ago and there was a Sport on consignment for 3200. It was "NIB", well said so anyways. I asked if I could inspect it a little, he said sure. So upon inspection of the bolt, you could see remnants of cleaning(not a very good job) and wear on the bolt face. Guess there's a sucker born everyday because last week it was sold.

So glad I stocked up on .45, 5.56 and .22 over a year ago.

It sure is disconcerting reading about the high prices.....makes me consider selling for a huge profit......only I'm afraid we're going to actually NEED it before too long. :(

By me they are pay to park, pay to get in, pay out the ... for everything else.

Went to the gilbralter trade show gun show a couples weeks ago. I found a guy selling 15-22 mags. I asked how much he wanted he said 60 bucks!i then asked if he was huffing paint he wasnt amused. Some people jus cant make an honest buck anymore.

Thing is people are paying the prices. I wonder how much fired brass from the ranges will be going for. P.S. went to overpriced GM yesterday had plenty of ammo some not too bad priced some double eg .45acp 100 rnd wwb $64 just paid $34 at wally world day before...

I was at the Orlando show yesterday, also. I've been going to every show from Tampa to Orlando for the last 6 years and I've never seen so many people before. The line was at least a half hour to the door and this was at 1:00. It was that way when I left 2 hours later, too. They were giving out vouchers for free entry on Sunday if you would leave and come back, like when the airlines overbook!

This is ridiculous can't find any ammo and from what I hear its prob. Won't get any better but if you do it's to dang expensive

Attempted to go to a local show here in Jacksonville, NC yesterday. I was looking for an older model Marlin .22 Lever Action rifle. The cars were parked up to 4 city blocks away, 30 minutes after opening. I did not even bother to stop!

Think prices are rediculous now just wait. I don't think an AWB will pass but a magazine ban is a very real possibility. If that comes to pass magazines will be worth more than our rifles.

I just got my 18 S&W magazines for my 15-22's in the mail today.
Almost feel bad I found them before they sold out at normal prices.
For my kids, obviously. Gonna put them upstairs in the safe with Diane, Mr. Fein, and Mr. Stein.

Think we've got the usual show coming up here locally soon but I have absolutely zero interest in going based on how it was the last time I went in November and the pain in the *** it has been going to the LGSs and indoor ranges over the past several weeks.

The only thing I would actually panic buy if I saw them at this point would be a few more Glock 17 and 33 round 9mm mags. Been trying to pick some of these up since August but they seem to have been perpetually out of stock online when I've looked and the only ones I've seen in store or at a show were priced at like $35 a piece for the 17s and $50+ for the 33s.

I've got plenty of 25 round 15-22 mags, 4 BX-25s (don't even have the 10/22 yet but I figured I can use em w/ my friend's in the meantime :) ), and somewhere in the neighborhood of 6000 rounds of assorted 22LR ammo and around 1000 of 9mm. Should last me for at least a month or 2 ;)

I overheard a dealer at the Colorado Springs show this last weekend discussing with some poor potential new gun owner how "Taurus products are superior in every way to a Glock, so superior I woln't carry Glocks in my store".

I'm not Glock fan, but oh-brother!

On the plus side, Obama is helping introduce a whole new segment of the population to the shooting sports.
