Well, I went to my local Gun Show this weekend and picked up a Pacmayr Grip for my 640-3 (only $10 sitting on the table all by itself) and headed to the range after swapping out the factory Uncle Mike's.

While shooting through my box of 38 special, I noticed that after firing them, they did not freely fall from the cylinder. They would come out about 4/5ths of the way and hang until I physically pulled them out. The 357's however did NOT hang and fell freely.

Also, after 100 rounds (fifty 38 special and fifty 357 Magnum) I will say I could cook on the weapon all the way to the hammer... meaning 2/3rds of the gun was almost too hot to handle. I was afraid to put it in the case for fear of melting the foam lining!

I don't remember what brand ammo the 38 special was... I remember it was a green and red box though.

All-in-all a great range visit! The new Apex Carry Trigger performed flawlessly and made the world of difference in the pull weight. My finger didn't even get fatigued. I also LOVED the new HiViz front sight I installed. It took about 10 rounds to get the feel of the aim point, but once I had it, it was amazing. The Pacmayr Grip made a difference in the "sting" of the 357 rounds. Good buy!

I would HIGHLY recommend the Apex Carry Trigger Spring set to anyone with a J-Frame. The HiViz sight took some work to get installed and if you don't know what you're doing or don't have a very steady hand, I would not recommend it.

Its the first thing I did when I purchased my 640-3; a pacmyar grip. It really helped with recoil and accuracy. The original grip was a problem due to the finger grooves. I am putting an XS front sight on it this weekend. Its my main carry gun.

How is the Hi-Viz sight ,better than stock in low light, thinkin about gettin one but it looks like the tubes can get easily broken because of there exposure.

I put the XS on my 640-1 and haven't looked back since...Carry the gun almost everyday and just love the sight picture and the pick up at night.

I do like fiber optic sights and plan to put one on my 45 colt mountain gun soon.

I like the HiViz... however, the light pipes are easy to crack if you hit it against something. Though they work fine even if cracked.

With that being said, I will be replacing them with an XS sight... I have them on most of my other weapons... and I didn't realize they had them for the 640 until AFTER I purchased the HiViz.
