I don't think that I would ever bother to keep a firearm that I "HATE" to shoot, unless it was some sort of heirloom or collector's piece.
That being said, most of my firearms aren't particularly pleasant to shoot, at least not in the traditional sense, but being something of a recoil junky and with most of my firearms having been selected for self-defense rather than recreation, I enjoy shooting them regardless.
Ironically, my favorite firearm just so happens to be the least pleasant to shoot, the Walther PPK/S in .380 ACP. I love it because it's an extremely attractive firearm, but the recoil on it is absolutely insane. It's honestly the worst recoiling handgun I own, and that's saying something considering that I own a Taurus Judge Magnum as well as a Mossberg 590 Shockwave!
I thought the Ruger LCP would be worse considering that it weighs less than half what the PPK/S weighs, but no, it's actually more pleasant to shoot. No wonder why all the new .380 ACP pistols use locked breach rather than straight blowback, the design just transfers so much energy back into the shooter's hand. Still, I love it, it's beautiful, reliable, built like a tank, and extremely accurate in spite of having a heavy DA Trigger and painful, flinch-inducing recoil. Mine is actually one of the S&W models with the extended beavertail to prevent slide bite, yet it has still left my hands bloodied because it just keeps slamming into my thumb's knuckle under recoil until the skin splits.
