Charter Arms 44 Special.

Something that has H&H as the manufacturer. If one Tulsa Spring show dealer had not left 4 hours early I would have had H&H's in a 12 gauge Badminton SxS and a Square bridge .375 H&H by H&H. We were so close to a trade. Did not get his card, did not know he was leaving early. I emded up with a Cogswell & Harrison in .375 and a Westley Richards 12 gauge, you know, consolation prize.

Colt Woodsman.

S&W 41.

Win 100 or 88 in 284 win.

Yes I've seen them in gun shops and gun shows but never attacked the buy or trade like I did on 29's, 27's, Win pre 64 M-70's or M-12's.

As I gracefully age on retirement fundage I've narrowed it down to a Charter 44.

So what's on your list of wanted but never got?

1. A pair of S&W triple locks in .45 Colt and .38-40 WCF. A gun book in the junior high library wrote they were highly sought after rare collector items.

2. A long barrel, I think it was 8", .357 Auto-Mag from the original manufacturer. While I handled it an Ernst Hardware sales man offered to reduce the asking price from $275 to $225. I had the money at home but since the GCA of '68 had taken affect I wasn't even close to being old enough. I had to shave young. I was 14.

3. A well timed and tight locking Merwin Hulbert .44-40 DA with the optional extra barrel. They were written up as a little known 19th Century marvel in one of my first Gun Digests. I've never seen a Merwin Hulbert that was fit to shoot.

While those guns have escaped me, I have had a more than an adequate supply of nice guns.

S&W Classics Model 29.
S&W Model 629 JM.
S&W Governor.

Every time I'm about to buy one, I hesitate.

Colt Woodsman.

Which series? I inherited a Series 3 from my dad. Box, paperwork, original grips.

The only gun I have had a hankering for and never bought is a S&W Registered .357 Magnum. I have yet to find the exact configuration that I want at the price I am willing to pay. Many have been refinished (won't buy one of those) altered or not in great condition. I want one that's all original, with original box the way I want it and yet not at an insane cost.

I might never find what I want and might never own one, but I always have my eye out. As they say........ the hunt is 90% of the fun!

'Always wanted a 1885 Winchester/Browning Hi-Wall...... single shot.

Actually have one in .22 short that dates to 1887... hanging on my office wall....but would like one for roaming in Penn's woods...... maybe in .243 so it could be used for Varmints (80gr) and Deer (100gr) ... but at +$1000 w/o sights I've never taken the plunge.........

A mannlicher in .308...... I have them in .22lr .22mag and .223 all CZs and a Ruger International in .243.
