Went to my first gun show today in about 10 years, guy in front of me had two revolvers he was looking to sell. 18-3 blued, no box, magna stocks. $700. Also had a 19-3 blued no box target stocks, $900. I had a shot at the 18-3 which was clean but I walked around for 5 minutes too long. He traded on a browning lever. Dealer put a tag on for $950 lol.
The 19-3 had some freckles on the cylinder and wear on the barrel from a holster but was tight. Good shooter. I offered $800 but he wanted $850, so I left it there. (Already have 586, 686, 66)

Anyway, I snoozed and I lost on a clean 18-3 that would have been a face to face sale, no tax, no transfer.
I don't regret leaving the 19 there.

I guess you were at the Gem Capital show. See my posts about the 58's I got there.

It was actually the Eastman gun show in Gainesville. Interesting how times have changed. It was an event about 14 years ago, held at the large civic center downtown. 2 large rooms full, vendors down the main hall and atrium too. Always some tables of older guys showing their wares lots of interesting stuff. Now we are in a back road strip mall, in the long-departed grocery store chain's prior space. One room, still pretty full. Mostly semi autos, counted about 30 total revolvers give or take, one colt SAA for the princely sum of $2900. A few older Smiths for about $400 more than guys want here on the for sale page.
The plastic guns and AR tables rule the day now. At least we still live in the USA and can buy this stuff and participate, even if it is marginalized to the invisible sites. Bought some VV N340 powder for $50 a pound, actually cheaper than u could buy it at Midway when u include tax and shipping. Bought 4 pounds. Guy said most folks don't know about it and the distributors haven't jacked it up as a result.

I watched an 18-3 at auction this afternoon (on-line) bring $1500. I had thought it had reached overprice at $950, but it kept going. Today's market about out of control. I also watched a 3" 629-1 (High polish) bring $2500. I wasn't quite as shocked by that.

IMO you missed nothing. Both guns over priced by a bit. ll you lost was an opportunity, not a bargain.

What is it with 18-3s? Saw one sell the other day for $1725 with the auction fee and transfer. I figured it sold for exactly twice what it was worth, but what do I know? I think 9mm ammo is overpriced above $18/box.
