I have a SW model 457D, which is DAO, that has light primer strikes. I'm thinking it is some spring work which is beyond my talents. Can anyone help me with a good qualified gunsmith in my area?
Thanks, MET

It may be as simple as making sure the strain screw is fully tightened. Try that before you spend any money.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I will look into both. Yes it is an auto and also double action only. I have watched the videos posted here about the disassembly but being a DAO I'm not certain how to disassemble myself.

In regards to the gunsmithing I needed done. I hopefully tackled the problem by myself. I want to give a huge thanks and shout out to BLUEBELLYYANKEE along with W.E.G for their wonderful Utube videos and tutorials on how to disassemble a 3rd generation auto. Also, a thanks goes out to 18DAI for his wisdom and Walter O for his suggestions.
I started by pulling the firing pin on a CS9 since it had a de-cocker on one side. With a proper punch and a good light everything that was shown in the tutorials stood out. It turned out easier than I had expected. Then came the DAO 457D I have that had the weak primer strikes. This one took a bit more patience but I was successful. This pistol was caked with grease in the firing pin channel. the grease was hardened on the spring. I also wound up doing a 3913LS also just because I did get the hang of it.
Off to the range tomorrow and I am expecting a good day!

Just to follow up, the 457D ran like a race horse! what a nice firearm. From now on I will definitely clean out the firing pin channel on all of my used firearms when I bring them home.
