Gunsmithing the S&W 3rd gen videos

Thank You!!

Great videos! I watched all four twice. I bought a S&W model 5906 and wanted to get the action tuned. I found that the S&W factory was quoting $165 for a job that didn't appear to go into the detail I saw in your videos. I don't have the tools to do the work myself, so I asked my LGS's gunsmith (a G-man) if he'd watch your vids and give me a quote. He watched the vids, told me he had many of the stones you used, and quoted me less than factory. He commented that he appreciated your tip on using the t-square rule with fine grit paper because he didn't have that thin stone. Bottom line - I now have finely tuned action on my 5906 and a confident Gen3 gunsmithing resource close to home.

I don't know if Bluebelly, the original poster of this, is still paying attention but I am forever in his debt for these videos.
Bought my first 5906 two years ago (which I foolishly sold). Bought another one this year. Used the well shot, well lit and VERY well explained videos for teardown and reinstalling.

I watched the videos a couple years ago after buying my 5906. Helped me understand how the pistol was built and functioned. All I've had do is replace the Mag release Button spring, plunger and clean the crud out.

Just learned tonite that the YouTuber was here, as BLUEBELLYYANKEE.

Suggest the moderators consider this as a nomination for sticky status!

I finally finished these "gunsmithing" videos. There are 4 videos that total about 1 hour. They were uploaded to YouTube in full HD (1080p) so they should be very clear. Hopefully they contain some information you can use. I edited them to shorten them as much as possible. Hopefully they are not too boring.

Thank you for posting. I'll be sure to take a look at the videos. I've also been hesitant to take apart a 3rd gen in fear of not being able to put things back correctly.

Was the best videos to watch when I first tore apart my first 3rd gen purchase a 4506-1. Followed most of the stoning and polishing as far as I could with what I had but it did make a difference on my 4506. I still go back when its been a while since tearing my 3rd gens down and get confused.

These are the best YT vids I've found, on working on the 3rd
Gens. Lighting, angles, sound, pacing--all quite good.

I can't believe it has been 8 years since I published these videos. My how the time flies by. I am glad that you guys still get some use out of them.

For those interested I also have 4 videos that detail the complete disassembly and re-assembly of these great S&W 3rd gen guns.

Thanks! :)

You couldn't be persuaded into a vid limited to the unique
aspects of the 3rd Gen frame-decockers (e.g. 1076), by
chance? :D:D:D

They're some of the best videos available on their particular subject matter. Well done.

I was glad to find out about them today. I wasn't at all interested in S&W semi autos when you first posted them. Now I'm turned on to 2nd Gen pistols and with very small adjustments your videos will be very helpful working on them as well. many thanks!

Exactly.

So many posted videos are poorly lite & focused leaving you to "guess" what the featured item looks like & how it's exactly done.

Not with BLUEBELLYYANKEE's videos.

Kudos for being proficient & knowledgeable on your photography equipment & taking the time to put them together.
