GUNSMOKE 65 Years

You figger Matt and Miss Kitty ever.... Well. You know...

Held hands?

(That was one extremely long flirtation. Seventeen years, was it?)

There were a few episodes where the scene started with Matt and Kitty walking down together from upstairs. Who knows what they were doing.

What always struck me was when the episodes went to color, how vivid the colors were. The card table tops were bright green, and Kitty's clothes were always bright. Considering the Long Branch had swinging doors and on a dirt street, Kitty and Sam must have spent all day vacuuming! :D

Arvo beat Dillon to the draw, EVERY time! You see Dillon draw, and there's a shot right BEFORE his. It's Arvos. There was also an actor, can't remember his name right now, but he plays the main bad guy on one of my wifes favorite soap operas, The Young & the Restless. Plays a guy named Victor Newman. He also beat Dillon to the draw, and shot & wounded him pretty bad. One of the last guys to outdraw Matt on the show.

I think I have seen all the black and white episodes many times. To me, the color ones were not nearly as good. Even though I have seen them, I still watch it most everyday. I like seeing actors like John Anderson, who were on the show many, many times, playing different characters each time . Sometimes a good guy, sometimes a bad guy. even got killed multiple times. Of course, he did the same on many shows. It is also neat seeing ultimately famous actors having bit parts in early westerns before they were famous.

John Anderson was great! Another favorite bit actor was Hank Patterson and of course Strother Martin. I don't think there is their equal today or I don't watch enough TV to know.

We should not forget Carrol O'Connor (several roles), or Burt Reynolds, or just about every has-been, soon-to-be, or wannabe that was hanging around Hollywood back in the day.

Jack Lambert played the baddest guy Dillon ever faced -- Kin Creed. He was the only gunfighter I ever remember out-drawing Matt Dillon.

There were others. In the first Gunsmoke episode, "Matt Gets IT," gunfighter Dan Grat, played by Paul Richards is faster and later and in "Mannon," gunfighter Will Mannon, played by Steve Forrest, beats Matt on the draw.
