I have a buddy that has one...

He says it has the worst recoil of anything he owns, but he says it shoots great- uses it for bear hunting.

It'd be perfect in a Ruger #3, if they still made it, or an affordable version of a Browning 1885.

I've been looking for one for about a year now, when I found one that the price was right I didn't have the cash, when I had the cash the price wasn't right ! I'm sure no one ever heard that before.

I'm looking for one as a companion to my S&W Model 500. I figured I would go up to $200 for a complete gun, or less for just a barrel but I'm hesitant to pick up the barrel until I have a frame to install it on. Ultimately, I want a .22 Hornet barrel that will fit the same frame as a 20 gage and the .500.

The one I shot was stout. I intend to shoot handloads, though, and that will change recoil and the stock design (I was shooting iron sights over a monte carlo stock) needed to be changed.

That seems to be a little high. You should be able to find one for $225-$250. I think Dick's Sporting Goods will order one for around $250.

Agreed. You can buy them all day long at that price, typical is about $250 and a really good price is around $200 or less, all depending on condition of course.
