I've been eyeballin' these for awhile, and finally took the plunge.
Cleaning it up tonight for a trip to the range tomorrow.
Serial # is DTZ11xx.
Does the Z make it a later made rifle?
Thanks

Congrats on the new toy and welcome to the disorder...

I have two suggestions for your first outing...

1. Go buy a couple boxes of cci minimags or stingers to "break it in"

2. Run fed bulk packs and never look back

And one last thing enjoy it

Yes they go Alpha Numerically DTZ would be newer than DTM.

Congrats on your new purchase and I hope your outing tomorrow goes off without a hitch!

I think I have some stingers around somewhere.
I bought a couple of boxes for a S&W 34 snubbie a couple years ago.
I touched it off without ear protection, and thought I blew out my eardrums. lol
Why the hot loads to break it in?
Just curious
Thanks

Anytime you have a new rifle that has stamped or machined parts in it you will feel alittle drag when you open the chamber.. its just were burrs and and tolerances come together..if the bolt does not go all the way to the rear during a cycle then it doesn't have the inertia it needs to fully chamber the next round giving what we like to call an OOB . by running a hotter round you insure a complete cycle of the bolt working these parts together... I've completely polished the moving parts in my rifle and can run any ammo I put in it so far... including subs... hope this helps

I too tend to run 100 rounds of hotter ammo around 1500fps for my guns first few rounds to help it wear any rough edges that may cause a jamb.
Always clean your new gun first and lube well also. Inspect for burrs and anything out of the ordinary. I seem to find metal burr's alot in new guns that would break off and mostly like be no issue, But i don't want to take the chance.

I just bought a Ruger MKIII 22/45 that was dripping in oil and even had a very hard layer of a lacquer looking lube on the bolt rails that i had to scrub hard to get off.
That may sound bad, But i was impressed as that gun could have run out of the box perfect and probably better lubed than my oil and grease soaked guns after i get done with them.
Many days after a long range session with many guns my glasses look like i have been sprayed in the lenses with oil.

Just as a rule of thumb.. on a rimfire be spairing with the lube... take some withyou incase you need it but a lite coat is more than enough too much can cause more trouble than it solves... it causes the trash that rimfire leave to stick in the gun rather then being blown out... and can anyone tell me what happens to oil when you burn it?.... that's right it becomes carbon.. that's why most suppressor makers tell you not to oil the inside of a can...

Dog-gone-it

Well crap, daughter-in-law went into labor Saturday morning, didn;t deliver until late Sunday night.
So, no range report yet.

thats funny, i never thought id see a grandparent say that:D

thats what you call dedicated to a sport now:cool:

Well---------this one makes number 6, but they are all special. Just bad timing, thats all. lol
BUT, just got back from the range, about 200rds down range, and not a hiccup.
Would like to have shot more, but wife is wanting to head back to the hospital tonight.
5 grand-daughters, and 1 grand-son, I'm outnumbered now-a-days.
