It was a very sad morning today. After over 8 years of having my little Beagle Sammie I had to put him down.:(
He has had hip problems in the past. For the last week he has been limping and having a hard time to walk and in a lot of pain. The vet said that there was very little that could be done without major surgery.
So I made the very tough call to end his suffering.:(

The last great thing you can do for a pet is to keep him from suffering.

It ain't easy but we owe it to them for the love they give us.

Animals depend on us to take care of them , right up to the end to make the right decisions . I have put down , horses , cattle , dogs etc . When that one is gone , I go get another and move one -- simple .

Knowing that dying is part of life doesn't make it any easier to face. Sorry for your loss, but it's only temporary as I believe Sammy will be waiting for you with a happy tail and lots of kisses some day.

I cant "like" this post,:o:o sorry you had to put your pal down. :o:o May he rest in peace.

Bob, my condolences at your loss, but rest assured, you made the right decision for Sammie, because you were concerned for his quality of life. Sadly, I have been in your shoes before, and probably will again. Take comfort in the fact that Sammie will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I too just had to put our dog, Shad down. It was one of the hardest things I've done. But he too was in pain and we could not bear to see him that way.
I am sorry for your loss and will pray for him.

So sorry for you. Sammie isn't really gone - he's just moved into your heart. And he'll always be there. You made his life as rich as he made yours.

God bless

I would think when it my time to say good-by to pal and friend, Buttons a Toy Poodle this would be her will to me.

Condolences.

Our largest GSP is on his last legs. Lots of gigantic fat tumors but he's not in any pain. Lost his appetite a couple of days ago and very lethargic. Gonna be a few days if not hours............
