Hi, can you tell me what the pounds are on a factory hammer spring for the S&W 637. Thinking about putting a lighter hammer spring in, but I do not know what is in it now. Thanks!

Wolff Gunsprings sells an 8.5 lb spring as "standard power"... they also make an 8 lb reduced power and a 9 lb extra power spring.

But... Be aware that going to a lighter hammer spring may result in less-than-reliable primer ignition... something NOT desirable on a defensive gun.

If you want to lighten up the weight of the DA trigger pull without potentially sacrificing reliablilty, try a lighter rebound spring first. In my 637, I left the stock hammer spring in place, but changed out the stock rebound spring with a 13 lb Wolff rebound spring and it made a big difference in DA pull.
