I would love for S&W to make a hammerless J-Frame 9mm. It would be an awesome carry gun!

No internal lock of course.

The model 940! Production was discontinued in 1998 but used models are available.

Yes they are, on all counts. If you search the forum, you will find where a member with a 642 changed the cylinder with a 940 cylinder making, in effect, a 942. He reported the recoil was sharp!

I would like to see the 940 re-introduced with 2" and 3" barrels. The 3" 940 is my grail gun.

didn't S&W make an airlight 642 in 9mm called the 942?? I think only a few prototypes were ever made but it did exist at one time I think

As far as I know, only one 942 was made and it was for Wiley Capp.

Is there any reason why a 340PD cylinder couldn't be "shaved" to accept moon clips?

Pinnacle High Performance will cut titanium cyls for moonclips but to shoot 9mm the chambers have to be reamed. Because the 9mm has a tapered case, it won't fit in a .38/.357 chamber and I don't know of anyone that does that to titanium cyls.

Pinnacle rechambered my 360J (scandium frame, steel cyl) to 9x23 almost two years ago. It's been a great gun, I carry it loaded with 9mm +P+, it's a heck of a shooter and a pleasure to carry since it only weights 13oz.
