The weather was nice for casting the last couple days.

I cast another 500 or so LDEWC and 500 Lead Button Nose for my new 38 Special play toy.

I'm LADLE casting for the Hobby Experience, NEAT.

Going to the range today to shoot some that were previously cast.

I will most probably cast some more the first of the week, some LSWC, to add to the stash.

Life is GOOD.:)

I'm bottom pouring some .401" 180gr HP goodness right now. Had to take a breather so the lead can heat back up again.

CASTING ROCKS!!!

Man, how many cavities on that mold?
Back in my casting days, I was doing good to get a couple hundred in a session from my double-cavity molds. With a wife and kids, I could never get more than about a 4-hour session. Time-challenged, I gave up casting and sold off my equipment.

Maybe when I retire (ha) I'll have time to take it up again. Provided lead isn't outlawed by then.

jtcarm,

I'm running a 6 cavity of each, switching off, and Ladel Casting.

I have a machine that I haven't even fired up yet, but its ready to go. (Magma MasterCaster)

From last year...haven't started my Winter casting yet. One of my least enjoyed chores but a hell of a money saver. As well as allowing one to shoot exotic or tough to find designs.

The man spends his money on really good toys. I have a camera, but it's a piece of ****. I'm just not into electronic tech stuff either. My TV still has a picture tube... remember those days?

I started with ladel and I can't imagine going back to that. It's like going from cable or DSL back to dial up.

Good man. I've been hand casting a bunch of wadcutters to prepare for spending my winter at the indoor range, trying to rebuild my sadly neglected DA revolver skills.

Addictions

People with addictive personalities are lucky to get into reloading and bullet casting before they discover dope!

The major difference between mainlining heroine and casting/reloading bullets is that no cure is needed for the latter addiction. All other things being equal, the costs for each addiction are about the same.

Question for you casters. I was given about 400 cast 158gr SWC with GC. I started weighing them on a whim and WOW. They go from 154.9 to 169.4. Is this way out of whack? What load data would I use?

If you are nervous about them, tango, load them in groups. 5gr association.

Lower the load .2gr for every 5gr heavier group.

Personally, it was just one of those days for the caster. His technique or moulds are a bit off. Could be in the weight of the GC, who knows and, personally, I wouldn't care.

What are you going to shoot them out of?

Maximumbob54,

I having fun in retirement, presently using a WAAGE POT to ladle (they are worth the price).

Just using 6 cavity Lee W.C. moulds and a BRASS 4 Cavity NOE (Nite Owl Enterprises) SWC mould at present.

I have Ballisti-Cast hand cast moulds and Ballisti-Cast (The OLD H&G Designs) for the Magma Machine when I start it up.

I have Lee Pots (Ladle and Bottom Pour) along with a RCBS Bottom Pour.

I will be set to cast for 38Special, 45ACP, 45LC, 44SPECIAL, 40S&W, 9MM.

No need to shoot magnums, plus I don't hunt.

OH!, The reason for all the WADCUTTERS, I just had a Custom PPC Revolver built by A.P. & W. (COGAN).

It's based on a S&W Model 64-3, and has a Shilen 6"(1 in 14 twist) Barrell, Aristocrat Full Length Rib Tri-Sight, Aristocrat Full Underlug,

Competition Action Job, Chamfer Cylinders, and Nill (from Germany) PPC Two Hand Wood Grips.

The revolver is HARD CHROMED over the stainless.

Put a Magnet on your Stainless Revolvers, they're magnetic and can rust some, the hard chrome is just a better finish overall I feel.

I know the PPC Revolver is kinda obsolete, but I love revolvers and wanted one, and not a shot to death one, hense, the NEW BUILD.

This is kinda like the DOOMSDAY PREPPERS, only with a Shooting Hobby Self Sufficiency.

I have Lead in stock and a stash of cast PENN BULLETS to boot, along with Hornady FREE BULLETS for a press and dies I purchased.

Also in stock are some Cast Boolits from QUALITY CAST (a friend) and some ZERO bullets from a gun show.

All this is like going to work, only a lot more FUN on MY SCHEDULE.

HAVE A GOOD DAY:):):)
