I was lucky enough (because of the Forum) to find a set of original factory grips for this great old revolver - not easy because it's one with a square butt and the thin frame. I believe they used to hand fit everything back then and these were never fit to a specific frame/gun. They fit perfectly everywhere on the frame, except they are a little long. I know I can sand them to fit, but what would anybody recommend to redo the finish after sanding? Or, should I just leave them alone and not destroy the integrity of original finish? Thanks for any ideas.
