Here's some true stories of Marines.
In WWI, when the Army showed up with BARs, the Marines tried, and did steal them.
At Guadalcanal when the Army showed up with M1 Garands the Marines tried, and did steal them.
Upon landing at Okinawa an entire squad of Marines filed out on patrol with each man carrying a brand new Thompson submachine gun, not issued but stolen from the Navy LST they de-barked from.
But what do you expect from a military unit that was started in a saloon?
