Usually I keep my birthday under my hat but 70 is quite the miracle, all things considered. So Doc, his friend "the other Doc" loaded up and we tooled over to the Fairgrounds. $40 for us to get in but Khaled's folks were selling a $99 yearly "VIP pass." All shows anywhere in Florida anytime, such a deal. Other folks were hawking CCW insurance for $14/mo, meh. S&W revolvers, pre-1982 were scarce. New ones were full retail. There was a Model 52 with 3 mags and 2 boxes of vintage wadcutters for $1200. It wasn't new but wasn't dragged for miles either. Some kid was attempting to "private sale" a very nice 4" Model 65 with old style thumbpiece. Asked for any offer and after I explained the rules I said that might be worth $400 in my collection. He thanked me for the information and "non offer" (almost bit) and went his way. Place was crowded except for the "CCW classes" which had about zero folks waiting on the 11 am setting. The only other temptations were Colt's Python, brand new 3" for $1379. They are nice. Nobody bought a gun although other doc got a lot of info and exposure to the "wide world of (Shoot Straight) guns." We'll take him shooting down at "the Ranch" in a month or so and next time he can buy. There are more 01 FFL's in attendance but most prices are similar. AR's have hit rock bottom, I saw a used "no-name" M4gery for $300, used name brands for $499.
No chili-cheese-fries, Doc at 74 had to go into work because the "on call doc" didn't pick up the phone, Doc did. I missed a nice birthday lunch but bread gotta be buttered so day ended early. Looking forward to Lakeland in 4 weeks, at least I can tote in something to sell/trade. Joe
