Yip, it was this day in 1947 when the "zoomies" broke away from the Army.

Since this is a S&W forum, I believe it's appropriate to show my Chiefs Special Model 36-1 that shipped on the Air Force's 20th birthday.

Congratulations to the USAF! My dad retired as an LTC after serving 24 years.

Here he is pictured with his first new car in 1954 after his promotion to 1LT.

My dad served with the US Army in the ETO from '44 to '47. When the fledgling USAF needed bodies the Army allowed him to be discharged and enlist in the AF. He retired in '66.

He loved the AF and it loved him. Like baseball the Air Force has been very, very good to us.

PS: the AF gave me my citizenship, a college degree, a home loan and a business loan.

She was only 41 years young when I entered Lackland. 3708th BMTS. Seven states and 6 years active and 16 years reserve, 4 deployments, a college degree, a wife and a couple kids, and a happy successful life later I have all that I owe to my time in the Air Force.
