Happy Friday! Engraved with MOP stocks

Hi: Happy Friday!
Today, I acquired an engraved .38 Special S&W Military & Police (Pre Model 10) snub nose revolver with gold bands and genuine Mother-of-Pearl stocks, manufactured in late 1948 or early 1949. It's the first engraved handgun in my modest collection. I'm thrilled to have it!

That is beautiful.

Be careful David - these engraved pieces are very, VERY addictive! And it just starts with the "first" one. I just had to post again, as that little guy is a beautiful addition to any collection - "modest" or expansive.

Thanks again for sharing and let us know if you see any engraver's marks that would give us a clue as to who did the work.

Thank you, Larry!
The genuine Mother-Of-Pearl stocks are beautifully iridescent and have zero chips or cracks.
Yes, the Serial# begins with the letter "C".
According to James J. Carter (contributor to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson), my Military & Police (Pre Model 10) was manufactured in late 1948 or early 1949.

HUZZAH !!! You sir, are the grand prize winner.

I will be very interested to hear about the history of this little beauty.
Perhaps even something about the owner(s) can be discovered?

A gun as beauteous as this one must certainly leave a trail behind.
