Happy Little Group and a Question.....

I have a couple of the plugs that you mentioned. One is solid aluminum and the other has a plexiglas disc.

Found two of the three that I have. These are carried in my range tool box. No clue where the one with the plastic disc is at, will find it when I least expect it.

Excellent shooting AJ! They rarely make 'em like that anymore!

I have one gun that I deem my .22 target rifle when accuracy really counts. That is my CZ 453 American with a single set trigger and a Leupold adjustable parallax scope. It never fails to perform.

Nice.

I always think about the time shortly after I got into reloading and varmint rifles. I was talking to an old guy about groups and he said my 06 always shoots 2 hole groups. One going in and one going out. That was all he cared about in a rifle.

To me a hunting rifle is mainly about the cold barrel shot. Most only get that first shot and it needs to be right on the money. Don't think (or can't remember) that I have ever seen a rifle that put all it's shots in one small group from cold to hot barrel. Usually an inch or so off. So yes a "2 hole" group is where it is at!

My little Remington 600 in 308 fire 2 shots this hunting season, a day apart. 2 deer went in the freezer

Fun fact
One shot, one deer, 2 shots maybe 1 deer, 3 shots, no deer!

If a group is that hard to measure, you're too close. ;)

I am pretty much never too close.

Gentlemen, I understand about shooting for groups to check the accuracy of a rifle, handgun or the shooter. My Grandfather taught me that over 60 years ago, the Corps reinforced it over 50 years ago and a lifetime of shooting has taught me quite a bit. Have accurized rifles, handguns and developed loads that enhanced the guns capabilities. The rifle that I used for this will consistently shoot 3/8" to 1/4" groups using SK Rifle Match at 50 yards. Some days even better and some days a bit worse depending on conditions and the loose screw behind the trigger. All that said, a group like this is something to behold and marvel at in my book. The fact that I could do it after having the cataracts in both eyes fixed amazes me and makes me very happy...........

I appreciate that you pointed out that it was the best group of the five that you shot, but your "average" groups with this rifle are nothing to sneeze at.
