I have a bunch of hard cast double ended 147gr full wadcutters that I am wonting to load in 357 cases for my P&R 2 1/2" model 19. Does anyone have a good load I can try?
I use mostly W231 for my lead 38/358 loads and when I want more velocity without pushing the pressures too high I use HS-6.
4.0gr W231/HP-38 is a good place to start with a 148gr DEWC in a .38 Special or .357 Magnum case. You can use a chrono to see how high you want to go with the velocity. I can't tell you how much you can push the bullet because you didn't tell us how hard the bullets are and what lube is being used.
Look at the .357 mag Lyman load data for their DEWC. You can load these up to magnum velocities but most WC's are not stable at longer ranges. Usually OK to 50 yds.
