Has Anyone Here Switched to Photobucket "Bandwidth"?

I keep getting reminders about this from P.B. but ignored it. Next thing I know some of my pictures are blocked out in my posts and it says something about this "bandwitdth". I can click on the box and see my pictures but don't know if others can. Since I'm scared f messing up P.B. by trying this, I thought i'd see if you more computer literate folks have done this yet.

You have exceeded your "free" allotment of bandwidth. If you pay for the paid service, they will increase your bandwidth and give you some extra tools to see where your pics are getting viewed from.

Ok, I also have the problem. PB says I am about full. I tried eliminating some old pictures but cant get rid of them to put in some new ones. Is there any other similar sites that will easily do the same job here?

I use FotoTime, it costs me $24.95 a year and I have had pictures stored there for over 10 years without a problem. I believe they also offer a free trial period to try their features. I only use a fraction of the storage I have available and have been very satisfied with their service.

You can set it up with as many different file catagories as you like. They have very rarely been down or off line. They just e-mail me when the yearly payment is due and I use my credit card.

Why can't you get rid of them.? Do you have the originals on your home commuter? Do you need all the ones on PB to be shared somewhere or with someone?

Another thing, when I take pic I use the highest resolution of my camera, but then "resize" them for PB so the unpload and download much faster. If you store High res pictures that will use up your free space much faster. I clean out my PB regularly.

It's not quantity of pics. It is size of pics times online views. One large pic viewed one time is not as bad as a medium sized pic viewed hundreds of times. When you post a picture to a thread, it is using up bandwidth everytime someone looks at that thread. It can be from something two years ago, but when someone opens that thrsad, as long as the link is still good, you are burning bandwidth. That's the good thing about PBs paid service. You can see what pics are being viewed, and what sites are driving the hits. It's really good when you are selling stuff online. You can see which pics are getting the most attention.

First, I have tried to get rid of some pictures on photo bucket but they just wont go away. I cant figure what I am doing wrong. I have 455 pictures and it warns me I have used up 97.81 % of my storage.

One simple way to control your bandwidth usage is to shrink your pics before uploading them to Photobucket. When I upload pics I always shrink them to 1,000 x 1,000 pixels or less. My bucket is just over 1% full and I have 925 pics.

I do get a LOT of views on my pics. So, I upgraded to Pro. It gives me unlimited bandwidth and more storage room.

Im glad I have Keith do that for me--because I dont have a clue how to change pic size or anything. Also, I have several hundred on mine--and have used only I THINK?? 11% or so of the space im allotted.

It's easy, if you have the right tools. I use Photoshop Elements to resize the pics I put on line.
