We just received an unsolicited netSpend® Western Union debit card in the mail. Has anyone else received one without applying?

Along with the card is a detachable direct deposit form for depositing your paycheck. I worked in the financial industry for years and IMO, this reeks of fraud, scam, etc. I could be wrong....

When we finally found and called the itty bitty phone number, "To decline and/or opt-out of future mail offers...." their rep would not reveal the third party that gave them our name and address.

What say ye at the S&W forum?

Crook spends about $1 on card*** and postage. Sends cards ONLY to zip codes with high incomes. Lots of public info tells you where if you aren't local. Crook spends $500 out of pocket. Guaranteed he will get 10 bites out of 500 and now he has 2-3 weeks of their paychecks. estimated haul could be $15,000 in paychecks PLUS cleaning out their balances.

***A company called PLI is the biggest card maker in the USA. Real Magnetic stripe cards cost less than $0.40 each even when purchased in low quantities. My daughter used to work there in customer service. She sold thousands of cards per day to people over the phone.

Plus, "live loan checks" and similar mailings were outlawed years ago.

Scam, scam, scam.
