Has anyone seen this Western tv series? Tombstone Territory.

I havent heard of it I dont believe? Ill have to look around this afternoon when I get back from Academy.

I think Bio was making a joke about how they should have had such a series. Or he may have confused the series with the name of the real newspaper.

In fact, John Clum, a friend of the Earp brothers, was the real editor of the Tombstone Epitaph, the city newspaper. I think it may still be operating. Member Paladin is in AZ and may know.

Late 50s Western. I loved those old shows and still do:
Rifleman
Have Gun Will Travel
Lawman
The Rebel
Wanted: Dead or Alive (Steve McQueen)
Cheyenne
Sugarfoot (a spinoff of Cheyenne)
Death Valley Days
Wells Fargo
Bronco
Cisco Kid
Annie Oakley
Wyatt Earp
Colt .45
Maverick
Wagon Train
Derringer
Gunsmoke (started in mid 50s, ran for almost 20 years)

That's all I can remember. I'm sure there were more.

Bonanza, Rawhide, Big Valley, The Virginian were (mostly) from the 60s.

Loved them all.

WOW! I watched all of those and loved them!! Especially Have Gun Will Travel, Death Valley Days, Gunsmoke, and Cheyenne. But they were all great. Thanks for the trip back to the good ol' days of television.

No, I kinda remember the series. "John Clum" hosted/narrated supposedly real stories from the archives of the paper.

Maybe I'm thinking of Tombstone Territory (from what I found on the 'net). After all, I was maybe 8 or 9 and that was over 50 (almost 60) years ago. They say the memory is the second thing to go==forgot what the first is................

BTW: The Epitaph is still publishing as a monthly.

"Here lies Lester Moore
Three bullets from a 44
No Les,
No more!"

I've said this....

I've said this on other threads but I feel that Newton Minow didn't know what a 'vast wasteland' was in 1961. The worst was yet to come.

Where oh where are the anthology shows that had different characters and stories every week?

Sorry but I never even heard of it. Don't see how I missed it because it is one of my favorite kinds of tv shows. It you get it lemme know how you like it. I'm about halfway tempted to buy it sight unseen.

Will gladly do so. I just got back from WM and got the last one they had but--will be getting in more. The lady helping me said they keep selling out of them. Strange thing for me is, these arent shipped to the WM I normally shop in-and I wonder how many other oldie but goodies ive been missing?

Soon as I finish season 1 of The Twilight Zone, ill be starting on these.

All are available on dvd too. I have season 1 each of Have Gun..... and Cheyenne. Ive been looking for the best deals for the other seasons. Im still holding off on Gunsmoke because they had been selling them only by half season--like they did to COMBAT, and id rather pick up full seasons in the same box. Forgot to mention that I have the 1st seasons to: Rawhide and I think another Western?? Ill be eventually getting all the rest.

I miss Anthologies. I wish some hollywood brain would create another.....

I guess just about every tv show ever made is now or soon will be available on disc. That's good news for the evening entertainment for all time to come given the sorry state of tv today but bad new for the pocket book!

I hope so. I know alot of tv shows now public domain are on dvd but all or most poor quality. I see a lot of these on epier.com--many Westerns too. Forgot to mention just got season 1 of The Munsters and the movies the originals made. I cant recall if I picked up 2nd season yet?

I GOTTA get my dvds organized.

The shows had lessons

Watched them-and they had some good lessons for kids-The good guys prevailed, there was right and wrong -no bad language.
For a modern theme we would watch Sky King!
Too many episodes of Combat made me into a killer-so a career in the Infantry. I shoulda been a cowboy. How many channels were there? 2? 4?

Please shoot me a 'like' that you saw this.

Good Guys that are Good Guys, and Bad Guys that are Bad Guys...What a quaint idea !!!!!! We have come a long way, but from where and to what? Maybe we need a little self examination.....You Think??

I do not remember it either and we watched westerns at home. Someone said it was an ABC broadcast. For many years we did not get ABC in our area. It is possible that some of us never had the opportunity to see it....

Thank you for both. Also, that means it will be on dvd in a few weeks or so :-))

PS, those words remind me of those to the Daniel Boone TV series. :-))

I barely remember seeing some of the last season of Daniel Boone, and only because Rosie Greer was added to the cast. I THINK I was three at the time? Ive missed so many of the Westerns due to not being born yet or just too young. The only one I saw some of that was actually annoying for me to watch--was Buffalo Bill Jr.

Some of these can be viewed on YouTube. Newer favorites, like, The Lost World, have a lot of fan videos, but full episodes come and go, according to whether YT gets antsy about copyrights.

Does anyone recall, "White Hunter", starring Rex or Rhodes Reason? I never figured out the actor's first name or if he had a brother. He/They were on several shows back then.

I liked Rocky Jones, Space Ranger, too. The female attraction was named Vena Ray. I think they offered a deal where you could send some money and a cereal coupon and get a cosmic ray gun like they had on the show. Alas, my mother gave away or threw out most of my toy guns while I was away in the USAF. Those would be worth a lot today...

I remember when many older tv shows were aired before football games on local stations after cartoons. One station also offered free toy guns for certain tv shows. I only managed to get one--which was a metal luger, if you got several questions correct they gave quizzes on--for whatever episode you watched for a particular series. They also gave away to the winners, toy copies of the Mares Leg, and Matt Dillons revolver and Lucas McCains rifle. These were all cap guns--and well made metal guns not cheap tin or aluminum cap guns. The only one I managed to get, was the Luger for watching an episode of Combat. I still remember the episode I won mine for watching and acing the test. It was called: Cat and Mouse, which had Albert Salmi as Sergeant Jenkins.
