been using Birchwood-Casey barricade since before name change, usually in 6oz spray. couple months back bought a 10oz and noticed it smells totally different. old one says contains petroleum, new one mentions mostly solvents...works but different. anyone notice this?

I gave up on Birchwood Casey when the Company was sold. They discontinued one of my Fav's (Rig #2 Gun Oil) and they also changed the formulation of their Synthetic Gun Oil. I guess the new Company is just concerned with the cheapest thing they can fill the can with and not interested in the good reputation of the old product line. I'm done with them. Switched to Break-free CLP which for the most part is excellent! For heavy duty cleanings when I acquire a new to me gun, good old Hoppes solvent still fits the bill!

even good old Hoppe's #9 isn't the old Hoppe's #9.

May not be purely money driven. EPA rules have forced a lot of changes to chemical products in the past 10 years.
