I have a non-railed 4013 TSW. Love the gun and it has been my primary CCW since I purchased it earlier this year. Three times I have shot it at the range and each time this happens: The first shot, fired double action, hits the bulls eye everytime. However, when I fire the weapon in single-action mode, I hit way low.

I don't have this problem with my other CCW pieces (1911 in 10mm or Glock 40 cal). I guess I am flinching or mashing the trigger. Any advice?

Thats one reason I don't like DA/SA pistols. For me, the DA pull leaves me with improper trigger finger placement for the SA pull. 1911's, Glocks, etc have one consistent trigger pull and are easier to learn/master.

JMO, however! ;)

Without being there to see you shoot it, I would guess, based on training and experience, that you are dipping the muzzle in anticipation of recoil.

I've seen this quite a bit in new shooters and, IMO, it has little to do with DA/SA triggers (I've seen a number of LEO rookies do it with Glock 22's) but is a fairly common issue with new shooters. Especially shooters new to light weight high recoil pistols. I don't know your shooting experience but notice you've only shot this 4013TSW three times.

The cure, so to speak, is dry firing practice and more frequent range practice. To confirm the diagnoses, at the range, have a friend load a mag with a combination of live rounds and a few snap caps. Have him watch to see if you dip the muzzle on a snap cap.

At home, try laying a quater across the top of your slide and work on smoothly pulling your trigger - in both DA and SA - till you can fire without the coin falling off the slide. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI.

I like the idea of placing snap caps in the mags and seeing if I am anticpating the recoil. I am not a new shooter by any means but I am baffled at this one.

Anything that can help me improve it worth trying.

I to have some trouble with my single action followup shots after a solid double action first shot bullseye. Ill have to try the quarter idea for practise, have heard of it before just never tried it my self, but would be good practice.

Thats a heck of an idea!! I work on trigger pull every chance that I can get but every little bit helps and will be an excellent aid to use to teach my wife.

in basic training, we used a dime on the M-16. I really like the quarter idea.

My daughter is much much better shooting my 4013TSW on single action. So much that after each shot, I would use the decocker to drop the hammer for her.

It doesnt matter that much for me as I can get 8 of the 9 in pop can size circle.

I can tell you that I have up-words in the neighborhood of 1000 rounds thru mine and it has NOT once failed to go bang. And it doesnt matter who is shooting it.

I have one and I really like it. I tend to have to replace my trigger finger just slightly or correct for evevation slightly after the first DA shot. What I find is that my trigger finger is really all the way through the guard and I am squeezing with my innermost joint instead of the pad or the first joint, it will pass with training. One of the things about DS/SA, but is quite easy to get rid of.
