Hi all,

I have a chance to trade a good condition Glock 19, with TFO sights and 4 mags - worth at least $450 for a really nice looking (in the picture) S&W Model 28, with a 4" barrel. If the gun is as smooth and functionable as the seller says ...is this a good trade??? Note, the seller tells me the serial # is N311XX...does anyone know when that was made?

If the 28 is nice and has no issues I'd say it was a decent trade. Most 28 I've seen lately are in that price range. Can't help on the date.

Welcome to the Forum!
The 28-2 is from the early 70's...........if it is 95% condition or better with the original S&W medallion grips, it is a good trade.
Looking forward to pictures after you have it.
Good Luck.

There will be lots more Glocks, but no more 28's

I'd do the trade.

It looks pretty good to me. Glock 19s are plentiful and often cheap, and very easily replaced. S&W 28s are getting harder to find. You might find a 28 for a little cheaper if you really hunt for one, so it just boils down to do you want this one now more than you want the Glock.

The s&w model 28 is not being manufactured by s&w anymore so for goodness sake Trade for it. You can always buy another Glock 19
later since it is still being manufactured by Glock.

I also agree with Ziggy; Glocks are everywhere,
The old N frames are harder to find in good shape
I have a 629 from the early eighties - You'll love the 28

I would consider what has already been said. They don't make the 28 anymore but you can always replace that G19...............Make the trade.

I agree with the above Glocks are cheap and plentiful if someone offered me that kinda deal I be all over it.

I hope this finally posted. This is a picture of the prospective trade. It looks pretty good to me.

The other guy is probably over on the glock talk forum bragging about trading "some old revolver" for a really nice G19.

If both parties are happy then it's a good trade.

G19's are a dime a dozen. Nice guns, but not a Smith. TRADE, TRADE, TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't like it, I'd consider buying it from you..............

Anytime you can trade tupperware for a Smith revolver, its a good deal.
I have both, so i can say it :)

Well, I am meeting the owner to inspect it. it looks great in the picture, but let's see what it looks like under the hood.

YES! Some years ago I dumped a G17 (that I couldn't shoot worth a darn) and got TWO nice Security Sixes in trade for it.

I could say that a Glock isn't worth a bucket of warm spit to me, but that would sound crude to some folks...so I won't.

I would go out and buy a Glock 19 to trade for a Smith & Wesson 28.

I would trade my wife's Glock 19 for a Smith & Wesson 28. ;) :D

For a second there I thought you'd written that you'd trade your wife for a Smith & Wesson 28.

Now, I'd trade my EX-wife for a Smith & Wesson 28... :p

357snubby; did you really think you'd get any advice other than what you have from a Smith & Wesson board??

BigRix hit the nail on the head -- this forum is for guys who love old S&W revolvers. Most of our guys can barely stomach MIM parts let alone plastic receivers. The Glock never stood a chance.

Don't forget to turn out the lights........

Amen, and the curtain closes...........
