Posting this here because most of the guns I'm shooting are revolvers from this era.
Most folks are concerned with the ammo shortage. I am too, but not so much for myself. I have thousands and thousands of rounds. .38 sp,, 9mm, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .22lr, as well as .223/5.56.
I decided "what the heck. I'm 72. I need to shoot some." Haven't shot a whole lot in the last few years. I have guns I've never fired. One, an AR I bought over a year and a half ago, I took out Tuesday. Just shot a couple of mags to make sure it works. Yesterday I shot about 50 rounds of .38 sp in an old beat up 3 inch Model 37. Today, about 75 rounds in my 15-3.
You know what? Shooting those revolvers is FUN! The AR, not so much. I decided today that I'm going to shoot a few rounds through something just about every day. It is a four minute ride in my Kawasaki Mule to the back forty, and paper plates with a 1 inch bull scribbled on them are cheap.
I have been accumulating ammo for 15-20 years. Also, reloading components. My brother and I bought a widow's ammo a couple years ago. She and her husband were close friends of ours, so we spent days sorting his stuff and cataloguing it. We sold some, but wound up buying most of the 9mm, .22, .45 ACP, and .223 ourselves. Good deal for all concerned.
About four years back, I gave my Dillon Sq Deal B to a friend, with the provision that he load me 5000 rounds of .38 sp, and 3000 rounds of .45 Colt, using components supplied by me. Again, a good deal for both parties.
Tomorrow, I intend to put 100 rounds or so through my Model 14-3. I have had it for 3-4 years, probably haven't shot it 50 times. Next day, a Model 64 Ibought a few weeks ago. I need to shoot all the j-frames in my carry rotation, just for familiarization. Also, I need to get my wife, daughter, and son in law out to refresh their skills.
I've got the time, the acreage, and the ammo. Why not?
