How many have ever had it changed .. Most dealer don't say anything because its not on most of their maintenance lists ..
Its the one that filters all interior air in your car .. Usually consists of two filters ..

If you haven't better have yours checked .. Might be surprised at the dirty air your breathing while driving with the windows up !!
Could be the cause of ones allergies acting up !!

The good ones have charcoal to filter out smells too.

Those even filter out the diesel exhaust of the cars in front (or around at a stop light).

I change them in each vehicle (that has one) every year, in the spring. They catch all the pollen in the air.

My vehicles only have one filter, not two.

I changed them in my Chevy Tracker and my wife's Kia Borrego last fall.
MAN were those things NASTY! Neither had ever been changed in the 5 (mine) or 7 (hers) years that we've had them.
I'll probably change them again about next year.

My newest vehicle is 21 years old and none have filters. Although there are kits for the CrownVic, I have no desire to pull the wipers, cowl or spend the money @ nearly $100!

I never paid them any mind. Until my car selling oldest son found me a heck of a deal on a car that would allow us to haul his momma's wheelchair & leave the backseat up. Only problem was it had belonged to a smoker. I was surprised at the difference changing the filter made even after interior detailing. I don't think the wife ever knew.

I sheepishly admit that until a few years ago, I'd never even heard of it. Then my "go-to" mechanic that works on my classic mentioned it. Since then I've changed all three ( Nissan, Jeep, Toyota). They are hidden behind the glove box.:o:D

I have 2 passenger cars with those Cabin Air Filters. Both call for replacement at 20K miles.
I thought that was a bit early, but I was replacing a fan blower motor in the 2015 Altima, and decided to go ahead and replace the CAF whilst I was in there (it's tucked behind the glove box - I have to literally get upside down under the dash to get to it), even though it was only 18K miles.
I was certainly surprised. We live out in the red dirt, and it's dusty out here. It was certainly time to change the filter.

I'll do it every 20k miles on both, without fail. They are relatively inexpensive, $10-15 each.

I've been meaning to check mine ...car is almost 7 years old. I change the one in my work truck twice a year. I drive in a lot of dusty job sites etc. If you notice a big difference in airflow between the regular and Max (recirc) settings it's a giveaway that your filter is bad. Don't know where it is or how to change it?.....there's probably a how-to video on Youtube.

I'm glad you postede this thread, as it reminded me that my Colorado is now a year old, which means it's time for me to change the cabin air filter. I just ordered a replacement from Rock Auto, as even with their shipping charge it was several bucks cheaper than buying local at the chain auto parts stores. Plus, the one I ordered also has activated carbon in it, which costs even more at the auto supply houses.

There a serious money maker for the dealerships. Most all check that and engine air filter at each visit. Some are rather difficult to get at.

Course any serious gear head knows about the filters any how to change them. A decent savings of money there!:D

A Honda Pilot from mid 2000s will trick you up. The first time you change the cabin filter there is a plastic brace that you must break to insert the filter. EZ when you know how.

On some cars/trucks it is a pain to change the cabin filter but you will be amazed how nasty and full of yuck it is when you pull it out. If anybody has any breathing issues get that thing changed.

I change mine every couple of years, it is behind the glove box which is easy to drop, giving access.
I never knew they existed till my truck started stinking,I looked around on the 'net and found there was a filter. About $17. if I recall correctly.
