Have you ever found something stashed, and when found was like winning the lottery

Last night I was in the gun room, I have a bookcase and on the bottom shelf I keep some cases of shotgun shells. And a few misc. boxes of ammo that I knew was there.

Anyway when I moved the 3-100 round boxes of the shotgun shells to dust a bit. It seems I had stuck behind them some bricks of .22 I got 3 years ago from Big 5 on sale with a coupon for $14.99 each and $17.99. I almost fell over, I remember I kept going each week and picked up 3 or 4 on sale and used a coupon, they now don't have coupons for ammunition sales.

Well I stashed them and basically forgot about them. I put the 3 shotgun shell cases in front of them and what I found last night was 6 bricks of Winchester 333, and 5 bricks of Federal 525's. Behind that was 6 bricks of Winchester 555's and 6 bricks of the 525 Remington Golden Bullets. Did I hit the lottery or what.

Has anyone ever had a find like this that you forgot about? I think I am gonna run down and get me a powerball ticket.

Found 3 1/2 bricks in my old footlocker and I have no memory of buying them lol .I suspect my brother in law gave them to me several years ago.

I found a $100.00 dollar bill and a $50.00 dollar bill-stuck in between the pages of two War fiction paperbacks I had from the: The Sergeant series. It was just after my Father died and we really needed the money.

I recently found half a box of .32-20 factory ammo that I didn't realize I had along with some sealed Remington 100 round boxes of .22 Long Rifle. Not that long ago I found a bag of 100 once fired .357 cases, which is pretty good these days!

I guess you could say out of sight out of mind. The shotgun shell boxes made a great cover! And better than money in the bank for interest payments. I won't sell it but if I did at todays crazy prices I could get quite a profit margin! I am really glad I did buy it 3 years ago.

So now I am set for .22 ammo, it will get me thru the ammo wars and my three 617's and my K22 Outsdoorsman, and my M&P .22 pistol, my little Baretta Bobcat, and a JC Higgins Model 88 will have plenty of rounds. I have been letting them set, now time for some fun!

I get that feeling every time I get the winter coat back out. One year found over one hundred dollars in the inside pocket.

Back at Christmas time I spent 10 days cleaning the mess my reloading room/man cave had become. I found a 8 pound jug of Varget and 500 155 grain Sierra Matchking Palma bullets. That's my supplies for 2014, and I've already ordered 2015's supplies. By the end of 2015 I'll need to re-barrel my Savage 10 BAS, next barrel will be 26 or 28 inches, with I'm thinking 1:12 or 1:13.5. But finding tat pile of components made my day!

Few years back while cleaning and redoing the basement loading area, I found my big tupperware container we used to carry all of our Gun show gear. It was stashed in a storage area under the basement steps.

Opened it up and found our table cover, several boxes of price tags, stickers, magic markers, tape, etc. At the bottom I found a VERY NICE circa 1964 K-38 in a pistol rug!! I let out such a Whoop the Wife thought I had a stroke.

Thank God I had wiped the gun down before dropping it in the pistol rug!. To the best of our knowledge it had been down there about fifteen years.

Also found one of each of the Buck fixed blade knives, in sheaths wrapped in another pistol rug. WHY or HOW I traded or bought THOSE is more of a mystery than the K-38.

The K-38 had someones price tag that showed $210 on it.

CLEAN UP

Since the first of the year I have been working in the shop, as I call it. Many things have been found that were forgotten. One being 1000 pcs of new nickel 30 carbine brass, really needed by the way, and 900 pcs of new 32 mag and 32/20 brass. :D The list is on going :)

I have found "stuff" that I could not remember buying/trading to get it. Like a holster or a set of grips and no matter how long or hard I thought on it I never knew where I got them.

I finally got some .40 S&W the other day. I went to put it in my ammo can marked for it and found 1000 rounds of .22 LR in there. I bought it on sale at Bi-mart about three years ago.

Last year I found an entire, unopened 1,000 round case of Winchester 55 gr. FMJ .223 in my garage. I do not remember buying it. It has price stickers indicating I bought it at a sporting goods chain that went out of business about 1990! Price tag said $149.95, but I had a friend working there that usually gave me a pretty good discount, so I probably paid less.

This isn't exactly a "found" post, but I sure wish I could find that steel lyman 57sme sight I had squirrled away. It's been about 5 years and still haven't found it. Frank

Found $200 in the bedside safe I'd forgotten about.

Found a tub under the bed with about 250 rounds of my ".357 Lite" handloads..

Several years ago we were putting new carpet in the bedroom so had to remove all of the furniture. When we moved my chest of drawers I found a case containing a 16ga Ithaca sxs shotgun which I could not remember ever buying.

When I was a kid, I was helping my father re-build the fireplace / chimney of an old house a young couple had bought. When I was in the attic clearing some old insulation away, I found a Stevens 311 SxS 16 ga., and an old Marlin bolt action 22 wrapped in a blanket.

Showed my dad, and he contacted the homeowners. They were shocked, and didn't want any guns in their home. My father talked them out of calling the police, saying he would take care of the guns for them.

Traded the Savage years ago for something else, and just recently gave the Marlin to a guy I knew who didn't have much money, but wanted to get a 22 for his boy so he could squirrel and rabbit hunt. I shot that rifle a lot myself when I was a kid, and it was dead on and accurate with its factory peep sight. Won a few Turkey shoots with it, and got kicked out of one after winning 4 or 5 turkeys in a row.... I think they would have kicked my *** if I wasn't just a kid...lol
