I didn't realize a Shield 45 acp was in the works.

I prefer pocket carry, but I really like 45 acp. I think it may be the best self defense caliber going.

But my 1911 (full sized) and 625JM are both too big and heavy to pocket carry.

Maybe I need bigger pockets.

I've gone through a few and I believe I have, but there are 3 of them.
My number 1 carry is my Ruger LCP, next is my Smith Md. 36 and last but not least is my Glock 27.
When I first started to carry my one and only was a 37 Chiefs Airweight and that remained my mainstay for a lot of years.

Shield 9mm, which is replaced by my Bodyguard 380 when dress demands it. Smith PERFECTION!!! :)

I recently moved from the 442 to my Colt Cobra....about the same weight but an extra shot and still works on the ankle. For an auto, it's my HK P2000. The LEM works just like a nicely tuned revolver so all my triggers are similar as are the manual of arms, ie: no safeties, just pull the trigger.

It took me a long time to make the connection, but he ended up on law and order.
 
My perfect handgun? Hmmm... my first carry was a Smith 4006, which I used to qualify for my conceal carry license in Oklahoma. After considerable research, I joined this fine forum in search for what I thought was the perfect pistol, a 4013 TSW, which became my favorite carry. Then I discovered the stainless Smith wheel guns and changed to a Smith M60-9 short barrel (1 7/8", I think). Then... after shooting a HK USP .45, thanks to an LE buddy, I found and carry a HK USP .45 compact when traveling or working on the farm. Fast forward to today... another buddy got me interested in Sigs. My current everyday carry is a P938 Nightmare in a Barsony Leather pocket holster. So... I guess it all depends on what I'm doing and my mood.

For me, the perfect carry handgun is my Model 19-4 (4"), target hammer and trigger + tuned action. I find that it conceals quite well and I have complete confidence in it's reliability and my abilities with it. Bought it new in 1980, for $135.00. I load it with Federal .357 158 gr SJSP. I consider this set-up an all-purpose sidearm.

If we are talking about a CC gun then I would say the Glock 43 is
as good as it gets. For a combination of size, weight, slick profile,
design integrity, reliability and power I don't know of anything else
that compares to the G43.
 
As I stated earlier, if I could choose only ONE it would be the Shield 9mm. It's the ideal combination of size, capacity, and power (and reasonably priced too). Yet, there are times when something smaller is required due to dress. That's when the Bodyguard 380 serves very nicely. And for the times when ease of concealment is not an issue?....Browning Hi-Power is the perfect carry gun!

I'll try to ignore Rastoff's comment about a "mans caliber". ;):rolleyes:

Since the mid 70's I have carried a 4" 67 .38, 4" Colt Trooper Mark III .357, a 4" 686 .357 and consealed carry a 640 .357.
I liked all of them but I would say my 640 is my favorite with my Trooper 2nd, model 67 3rd, my 686 4th.
 
S&W 442, because I can carry two of them easily.

I wallet carry my LCP on a daily basis. It go's with me everywhere. In times past I have carried bigger and smaller caliber guns. I am content with the .380acp round for now but I wouldn't be afraid to switch it up/down with one of my 22Lr's if I had a decent holster. I never have felt under gunned when I did carry a 22. Actually the only time I have ever had to use a firearm in self defense was with a S&W 34 while out in the woods. It served me well. The 2214 I picked up recently is breaking in fine. I have around 3-400 rounds through it and I am sure it is near ready to be trusted as a companion. Pluses are that it is a SA holds mor rounds and that it will shoot much smaller groups than the LCP. Minuses are that it is heavier than the LCP and a smaller caliber.

Many Favorites to Choose From ...

Since acquiring my 340PD AirLite it has become my primary carry weapon. Incredibly light and very conceilable AIWB even under a tank top. My Kimber Ultra Carry II goes with it when more than 5 shots might be needed, carried ISW at 8 o'clock for left hand draw.

Since joining this forum I have become a 3rd gen S&W collector (thanks guys) and now have a CS9, 3913NL, 411, and two 10mm choices, a 1076 and 1006.

The CS9 AIWB or 4 o'cock if clothing allows, the 3913NL in shoulder holster, or the 411 in hi-rise belt holster are my other choices.

If it would ever come to actual shooting the 411 would be what I'd like to have in my hand, just wish it came in a full 10mm.

Currently, I have been practicing with a PD surplus 3953. I can't say it is my "perfect handgun" as I am not sure that has been invented yet. Nevertheless, I am much impressed with this pistol and consider it a good combination of safety and accuracy - with of course, the Third Gen dependability we have come to know and depend on. Right now it is wearing Ladysmith stocks as that was all Midway was selling and the grips that came on the pistol were pounded smooth.

"Perfect?" Maybe not, but this will do nicely until the real "perfect" gets here, to paraphrase that sheriff in "No Country For Old Men."

I have an ultra reliable 22Lr in the stable. It is a Ruger 22/45 LITE. If a bug out were necessary this would be the gun that I'd grab. I need a holster for this one too. I've looked at messenger bags from 5.11 tactical as a possible carry method. Perfect is hard to qualify.
 
Sig P225, and a Nickle Centennial, or a Colt Agent with a hammer shroud.

If I think I might be going to war, it';s a Sig 229 in .357 sig.
 
CC gun? 3914 in the miserable heat and humidity of NC. All the rest of the time 4513TSW. Regards 18DAI
 
I started out in 1970 with a 4" Model 19, went to a 49 and then to a 1911 Government Model for CC.

In 1980 I picked up a 1952 vintage Colt Commander in .38 Super. After addressing some accuracy issues that were solved with a new BarSto barrel, I carried the gun daily until 2007. It was replaced by another 1952 Commander in .38 Super that was customized with night sights and full hard chrome finish. It still gets carried daily and rarely anything else.

For me the Commander in .38 Super has just the right balance of power, recoil control, accuracy, weight and concealability...

If I need something smaller then I like the Kahr P380....very compact and accurate. For something larger with more power for woods carry then a 4" 57/657 .41 Magnum gets the duty...

For CC that three gun battery is about all I need...Bob
