Have you seen this case in Wisconsin??

Small wonder. Madison is one of the most liberal cities in the US.

Sounds like time for a class-action lawsuit from law-abiding gun owners against a out-of-control chief. As soon as the city council realizes how much the defense alone will cost they'll think real hard about keeping this loser.

Not a big surprise if you have lived in the peoples republic of Wisconsin your whole life. Madison and Milwaukee are some of the most liberal, gun hating cities in the US. We have a Governor, A US senator and more anti gun politicos than u can shake a stick at. The day that our AG said that since we do not have a CC law on the books Open carry is Legal and has been on the books for years, the Chief of Police in Milwaukee said anyone caught carrying a gun will be taken down hard and held till they can clear up the situation. And Madison is 10 times worse. I have open carried in my home town about 30 minutes outside Milwaukee and have had a slight problem with local PD but not with the county Sheriffs Dept. (Good, cause Im applying there in a year)

We must face facts, and in this case I would wager that the Police Chief has overwhelming support of the city government and most of the citizens. The citizens are going to demand that the police and county sheriff prevent the carrying of guns. The legal niceties’ of the situation will not matter to them at all.
It is entirely possible that the case will be thrown out, but I would not ask for a jury in Madison.

No problems here in Wisconsin Northwoods. We shoot on our property if we want...just can't shoot across town or county roads. Trespassing strictly enforced by county sheriff and/or homeowners...usually 12 or 10 gauge.

Unless the citizens were being disruptive or intentionally creating a scene, the case should be thrown out of court. It says in the laws that a citizen has a right to carry a legal firearm, but also has the option to NOT answer any questions of the police officer.

Written on April 20, 2009, This document will provide the basis of the legal defense of the 5 guys. I am very sure that this charge will be dismissed.

I spoke to the Wisconsin open carry people at the Union Grove show, they also have a case in Brookfield with a woman who was stopped coming out of curch and opn carrying.

The law is pretty clear, however the Milwaukee police chief has stated publicly that he will still stop and arrest anyone open carrying even after the AG said he could not.

I live in Racine and they just paid out $10, 000.00 to man the local PD arrested for open carry in his own yard. He refused to divulge his name and followed the law, he is one of the men I met at the show.

It doesn't look like the fund-raising is going very well. The goal for October is $1700, with $20 raised so far.
