Just got back from being cerakoted. Took to range. It fires first round then won't fire second.Had to rack slide half way to shoot second round. Ejects rounds perfectly. All 7 lube points were lubed with normal amount.

Every other round won't fire. Not sure if its a sear/battery issue or extractor holding up. Not sure if I need to sand down areas from the cerakote.

Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.

I don't know what cerakoted is, but did it work before you did that? I have a couple of thousand rounds through my 40C and it has never failed to go bang, eject or feed a shell, etc. Totally reliable gun.

If I had to guess (and I am without being able to see the gun) is that the striker is hanging up and won't "cock" when the slide is moving at shooting speed, but when you slowly cycle the slide it can "cock". I'd concentrate on that area, it's the only scenario I can think of that matches your description. I'm assuming you did remove the striker channel guide before ceracoating. If not it's probably warped due to the heat.

I think Bkreutz nailed it. A striker sleeve is plastic, and won't withstand the baking process for your paint job. A new sleeve will probably fix it.

The company who did the milling and cerakote remove and install a new striker channel sleeve each time due to the fact that the process involves heating the slide for the ceramic to adhere to the metal.

I think my problem was with the sear spring/magazine disconnect. I tore the gun apart and it seemed the trigger wasn't resetting correctly after each shot.

I cleaned the sear spring and removed the magazine disconnector and spring, replacing it with another one for the sear disconnect. I can rack the slide pull the trigger hear it break, rack the slide with the trigger being held and hear an audible trigger reset, something it wasn't doing before.

Going to the range tomorrow or Monday to see if this fixed the issue.

UPDATE 11/11/2017

Finally got the the range over the weekend. After tearing apart the gun and giving it a complete inspection and cleaning from my last range trip, I realized the trigger wasn't resetting after each shot. It seemed like the magazine disconnect was causing the sear to catch/not reset. Ended up taking out the magazine disconnect and replacing the spring to keep the sear disconnect properly working. Shot two full 15 round mags through it and not one hiccup.
