Just left my LGS about an hour ago and they had just put out a nice 27-2 5 inch blue priced at 799.95. The finish was a solid 90% and the cylinder locks up nicely with no discernable endshake with smooth action and bright bore and chambers. Just the gun, no box or anything. I didn't get the serial number so I don't know a year on it. The salesman that I know tried dangling the baited hook at me and when I balked he tempted me with "just put it on layaway." Unfortunately, being on a small fixed income and having had recent medical expenses I am just unable to move on it. I thought I would put the info out here on the chance another forum member might be interested. The shop is Dad's Super Pawn in Gulfport, MS (228-864-2602). They one of the largest in the state and I have gotten a number of decent deals from them over the past few years.

Diamond factory grips? Oversize targets? I'm too far away to move on it but curious all the same.

$800 net. Seems to be fair. But how about the grips? I would stop and look. Thanks for the tip. Gulfport is a great town and they know how to fix sea food.
Like I said, almost positive they were non-diamond football targets. The diamonds were discontinued about 1968 and the -2 went until 1982 so could have either depending on the year and didn't check the serial # since I knew there was no way I could make it mine right now.

A "solid 90%" finish......... so that means 10% is missing, that's a lot in my book,

$800 may not be such a good deal.

I'll say it: It's a shooter, not a collectible safe queen, so the grips are at most a minor inane side issue. A 5" 27-2 is a desirable firearm. Based on the description of the mechanical condition, it is almost certainly worth $800, and if I could justify it, that revolver would be mine without any of the silly quibbles. The OP did us all a favor, provided an ample amount of information to decide whether or not to buy it without seeing it, and he's being nitpicked. Crazy.

Bert Man,
Appreciate the heads up.

All I can tell you is that $800 wouldn't touch this one.
