Heads up on some good cheap flashlights

I've bought several flashlights and batteries over the last 6 months from a Inet company called "Deals Extreme". Its in China in think, but they have free shipping and some excellent deals on certain flashlights, batteries, chargers, and other electronics. I bought a Tank007 AAA keychain light that is very tiny and about as powerful as a 50 dollar Fenix LOD and it was under 9 bucks. A Romsisen RG-D2 AA is also a good, and the Romisen "Surefire LED clones" are brighter than a real Surefire and are pretty well made for under $18. The Cr123 Lithium batteries that cost $5 each at Walmart, are only 85 cents at DX and they seem to work just as well.

I like a good ole' American made Surefire 6P for my "serious light" but for the tool box, keychain, kitchen, kids, or to give away as gifts, these Deals Extreme lights are pretty nice for the money.

Unless QC has improved, I seem to recall a problem with the cut rate 123 cells exploding. Same problem with some of the lights.

Surefire Brand, and sometimes Rayovac, can be had for a little more than a dollar, maybe a dollar fifty each if you shop around.

I have had good luck with the Dorcy and Brinkman lights though. Eh. I like there to be someone with offices in this country to sue if their product explodes or catches fire. I'm a pessimist like that.

Deal Extreme is a counterfeiters site many of their knifes and a few of their lights, not all of them, are rip offs of name brand items.


Rumor has it (there really is proof but you will have to search it out for yourself as I'm too darn lazy to site it all) that some of your money gained by these counterfeiters gets funneled into terrorist organizations.

You make the choice.

I refuse to give these folks the time of day let alone any cash.
