I got a list of what TML (Texas Municipal League ) is looking at (supporting) for the upcoming session in January. Here are 2 items for your consideration.
1. Remove the cap on sporting goods sales tax revenues for state and local parks.
2. Create a constitutional dedication of sporting goods
sales tax revenues for use in state and local parks that would directly benefit parks, recreation, open space, trails and tourism.
While I doubt the State would divert sales tax on sporting goods as a dedicated revenue stream for state and local parks giving the demands on revenue I do see it possibly evolving into an additional tax guns, ammo, and archery equipment as a compromise. While I hate to see costs rise this may serve as a way to provide matching local funds to go with awards of monies from the federal government under the Pittman–Robertson Act for the construction of gun ranges.
Anyway just a heads up.
