208 pounds today! I haven't been in that neighborhood since 1982. Forgive my self-promotion; I just can't help myself. I feel really good about it and I hope everyone else on this thread makes steady progress toward their own health and fitness goals. See you guys later!

BCC,

That is fantastic!

Now you got me thinking about 1982. As I recall, in 1982 I was about 178 to 180 pounds and five or six days a week I'd drive to Rice University, park, then run the trail that runs the perimeter of that beautiful campus. There are old Live Oak trees lining the trail and streets. Runners are in the shade created by the dense tree canopy. I believe the trail is 2.5 to 3 miles.

That was when I really was a long tall Texan. Maybe I should be that thin again? I'll think about that while I put together a food post.

While cooking my lunch I thought about how little food is discussed here. We talk up the exercise, but food is as hard or harder to come to grips with.

I started my exercise program two years ago and started logging it beginning in December 2014. Only recently did I start logging my food consumption. Logging my eating has been a revelation, especially when the exercise log and food logs are combined. I'm starting to understand that what I do today most likely is not going to be apparent in my weight or strength until a few days from now and have learned this truly is a long term endeavor.

Currently I have a set allotment of 1,680 calories per day. That allotment is for a set for a slightly active male of my age, height, weight, to loose weight. I am allotted additional daily calories for exercising. I only count formal exercises like my morning walks and time spent on the elliptical trainer for these add on calories.

Here's what my log looks like so far today, and a picture of my lunch. Not all the chicken is on the plate. Not listed in the log are the spices on the chicken and 1 tsp of Don Lupe brand Verde Habanero Salsa which I mixed into the fat free sour cream to make the sauce for the chicken. I feel well fed for the day. I also see that I've had too much sodium, oh well that is not an issue for me today.

I'll probably have a salad and fresh fruit later. A couple of beers and a snack at the social I'm going to this afternoon. With 1,500 calories remaining in my allotment for today I may not eat everything that is offered to me today, but I will not go hungry. I'll also stay on course to slowly drop a bit more weight.

1982, I was 157 pounds. I remember that because that was how much I weighed when I graduated High School.
Will I ever reach that again?
Probably not.

For today, I had a chewy granola bar for breakfast. For lunch, it was half a banana with a little bit of peanut butter.
After that we headed on out to the Y, had a good workout then back home.
Now for supper, my wife cooked Bison meatloaf with little sliced potatoes. She used 1 pound of ground Bison.

For tomorrow we're planning grilled chicken and broccoli.

I've been increasing my intake of lean protein a bit since I've been lifting heavier.

I played 150 lb. flag football in college - believe it or not. I started freshman year of high school tipping the scales at 102 lbs.

As a Freshman in high school I wrestled in the 98 lb weight division. As a Senior 112lb. I wore the same size pants until I hit mid 30's and quite smoking. That is when the waist went out!

Rain woke me up about 4:00 this morning. I got up, weighed, and logged my weight. Got back into bed and slept for another two hours. It's a rest day for me with light household chores getting taken care of.

I joked about my two pound weight gain this week being a shift from fat to muscle. I wore my Wrangler cowboy cut jeans this morning, which are probably the tightest jeans I have, and they seemed to fit a bit loose. I'm happy to be in the normal BMI weight range. A stronger smaller body is fine with me. The older you get the harder it is to add muscle. The natural process is to lose muscle as you age.

By the way, I was chubby in high school, and trimmed down in college. My two physical education college degree credit classes were bowling and riflery. I was in good shape when I got that one hour college credit for learning how to shoot right. Could not have received my degree without that credit either. Guns on campus, those were the days. :)

Wow, a 5.6 mile walk in 75 degree temperatures. I see lows predicted this week with numbers that start with a 6. Time to break out the cold weather gear! Could it be that Fall has arrived in Houston? It sure makes walking more pleasant when you are not soaked in sweat. :)

My little community gym has been closed for equipment repairs. Work is supposed to start tomorrow, but they cannot tell me when it will reopen. The weather is supposed to be good, so I'll just get in additional walking until I get the use of the elliptical and weight machines again.

Went to the Y today.
The spin instructor was really mean to us today. Kicked my behind.
Then I was really mean to me. Doing extra sets and reps while maxing weight.

Tomorrow, my wife's gonna be working 8 hours. I've got my "honey do" list. I can usually get the list done and still get a good hike in.
Tomorrow though, I'm thinking of taking it a bit easy.
I'm planning on doing just a Paw Paw Tunnel walk through video.
When my wife gets home we'll go for a nice hike. Nothing crazy.

I got in a 5.9 mile walk this fine Fall morning. I've been having leg cramps on and off for a couple of weeks. They got me out of bed last night to stretch. I think beer and high sodium foods are the root cause. I'm going to back off on the beer and salty snacks and see if that helps. My additional active chores for today will be a two mile grocery run for yogurt that is coming off sale tomorrow. Then I'll take a trip to the Houston Galleria in search of a pair of my favorite running shoes which are on sale at a great price. Hopefully they will have my size.
