In the store a few weeks ago and on a whim bought a can of corn beef hash (with the little chopped potatoes) Well, this morning I fried that sucker up until crisp and greasy, pushed it off to the side and cracked an egg in the skillet. Mixed it all up, doused it with tabasco and ATE THE WHOLE THING  Got my dose of fat and sodium for the next week but DAMN it was good!!!!! Finished off with 4 donut holes for dessert!
Sometimes a man just has to do man things.

I really enjoyed a can of hash in the morning until.........
it went 2x or 2.5 the regular price, which I refused to pay.

Now I get a can or two at Christmas time, from a family member,
which works for me.

Never tried the can of Span, yet.

I gotta get a can or two of that stuff!

Recently, when we go to a supermarket, I pick up a can of survival food. I am building a stash in the garage just in case the apocalypse (or a major quake, etc) hits.

Prudent, right?

My wife thinks I'm kinda nuts and that we'll never eat the stuff, but I figger if we don't eat it in a couple of years I'll give it to a Girl Scouts food drive or similar, and start over.

In keeping with the theme of unhealthy but tasty, a cookbook for your consideration:

I used to like canned corned beef hash fried and spread on toast. I decided it was too greasy and unhealthy. I also used to love canned corned beef as a sandwich meat. That was when a can of it was less than a dollar. Today it is closer to five. I gave up on it also. I have read that canned corned beef was a staple of the diets of WWI Doughboys. They called it Bully Beef.
I do not eat eggs, at least as eggs - fried, scrambled, poached, or hard boiled. OK as an ingredient in other recipes.

Gonna have to ask the supermarket what kind of cbh they use, it's far less greasy than the canned i have gotten.

Once a week (wash day) go there for cbh, 2 basted eggs, 2 dry wheat toast and coffe (1 refill) for bout $7.50.

Other than good scrapple, cbh is favorite breakfast meat.

I love my SPAM and love my corned beef hash, but I'd give them both away for a few slices of fried livermush. Kind of a midwestern NC thing. Two slices of livermush slathered with grape jelly on bread!

Stocked up on canned Vienna sausage this week. H-E-B had several cases of it marked down to .25/can, bought 125 cans. I don’t particularly like it but my dog goes crazy over it. Will keep him in treats for a few months.

Back in my oilfield days, “Surf and Turf” for lunch used to mean a can of Vienna sausages and a tuna fish sandwich.

I just looked and I currently have 3 cans of Roast Beef Hash and 3 cans of Corned Beef Hash in the pantry. The local Wal-Mart also carries Sausage Hash which is pretty good also,(note: add to the grocery list). All are Hormel brand. The Roast Beef and Sausage Hashes are breakfast staples but I reserve the Corned Beef for dinners only (not sure why).
Yes, all are packed full of sodium and fats but I have decided that they counter act each other. The higher blood pressure caused by the sodium assists in forcing my blood through my fat blocked/narrowed arteries. Simple logic?

Since turning 65 a few years ago I resolved to start smoking unfiltered Camels, drinking cheap rye whiskey, and eating whatever I want. Just a patriot helping save Social Security - you're welcome.
