These Swedish-sister folk singers, who sing in perfect English, do a really nice cover of S&G's "America".

While I do like heavy metal, I don't like the band Disturbed.
I even had a chance to see them at OzzFest once and I didn't bother to head to the stage.

That being said, I wanted to hate their version of this song. I wanted to hate it, but I just couldn't do it.

If you want a real good new band check out Volbeat:

My wife brought it to my attention some time ago. If you want anger and attitude, the Disturbed cover is fine. Me...I'll stick with S&G. Guess that makes me Old School.

I'll go along with this, I'm a big time Volbeat fan! Seen them perform a couple times, going to see them this summer with Seether, my other favorite new band. Should be quite a show!

Since this is a thread about cover songs,Volbeat's done a couple:

I rate that very well done....

He/they gave it enough of their own treatment to almost make a new song out of it. The vocal styling is emotion charged, not quite like the ethereal sound of the original of S&G. Which makes it different enough to me not to have to say, "Well, they don't sound like Simon and Garfunkel".

"The Sounds of Silence was originally recorded by them with acoustic guitar. The later versions had the electric accompaniment added by session musicians (The Wrecking Crew) without Simon knowing about it. The original acoustic version is haunting and makes you listen to the awesome lyrics Simon penned and the incredible harmony they produced.

When I read that it was by 'Disturbed lead singer' I pictured Joe Cocker singing it.:D

as far as covers go...as much as I love the original, this is better...Shinedow-Simple Man...it's even better when they play it live...

The have had 9 specially made AR15's that have the serials "DEATHPUNCH1" through "DEATHPUNCH9" which is all the atf could approve. They are produced my 556 Tactical. The lead singer has 1 and the rhythm guitarist has one. The rest, they are slowly auctioning them off and donating the money to veterans groups. The rhythm guitarist has had a locking mount put in his convertible Ferrari to carry his, or any of his other many other firearms.
