Hellman's Mayonaise

It's my understanding that ketchup addicts/snobs prefer Heinz. The cult ketchup around Texas is Whataburger branded. The cult fast food joint sells their cult condiments in a partnership with HEB.

I'm in Texas on a TDY right now. The Spicy Ketchup at Whataburger is very, very good stuff.

How many ketchup packets can you take on an airline without drawing suspicion? :p

Anybody besides me have a fondness for that swirly colored mix of mustard and ketchup? I think that McDonald's is the only place to use it, but the mix of the two creates a flavor that is both sweet-soft and tangy-sharp at the same time.

I have tried the Whataburger spicy ketchup, but prefer the regular. Whataburger also has plastic cups of green and red salsa if you ask. I always put a cup of the salsa verde on my Whataburger along with a dash of hot sauce (I always carry a bottle of hot sauce in my glove box). Whataburger used to have a chorizo burger I really liked but they have apparently dropped it. It must have been about 10,000 calories and about half fat.

Not too long ago, I saw Duke’s mustard in Minnesota for the first time. Because of the buzz on this forum, I picked up a jar. It is not bad, a little saltier than Hellman’s, which I still prefer, but not so much I have to run out for a jar before the Duke’s runs out. With tuna salad, I don’t have to add salt.

Other condiments I like include:
Durkee’s Famous Sauce, used to be everywhere, now hard to find.
Pickapeppa, best on a grilled hot dog.
Green Dragon, from Trader Joes
Sriracha
Hoisin, good with sriracha in noodle soups.
A1
BBQ sauce, no particular preference.
Tabasco Habanero
Tabasco Chipotle
But Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce over regular Tabasco.

Actually I like Sriracha sauce instead of ketchup BUT my old stomach don't like it at all.
Also the new Hellman's ketchup is sweetened with honey not high fructose corn syrup.

A lawyer friend of mine once tried a Minneapolis Grain Exchange arbitration against Heinz, who was represented by a lawyer from New Jersey. The case involved the futures market in high-fructose corn syrup. (Heinz, high fructose corn syrup. Do you see why I was reminded of this story?)

The out-of-towner had my buddy’s client on the stand, cross-examining him on a statement of account. He was misreading the statementof account ; that misreading led him to ask a question that went something like:

“Isn’t it true that at a time when the market for high fructose corn syrup was clearly in decline, nevertheless, you took a long position?”

“I’m not Norwegian, I’m German.”

The arbitrator, and everybody else in the room, nodded in understanding, except for the lawyer from Heinz, who just stood there befuddled. If you get it, you are probably from Minnesota. If not, don’t worry about it. You probably can’t pronounce “Wayzata” either.

I do enjoy Whataburger but today I was in one and boy was it truly disgusting inside. Just dirt and grease, trash all over the floor, tons of flies... it was truly sickening. This seems to be the norm at Whataburger sadly.

It seems almost as a general rule even MCDONALDS of all places tend to have FAR cleaner stores than Whataburger... just an observation.

It's not exclusive to HEB though. My wife buys the Whataburger ketchup in New Iberia at the Super 1, which is owned by Brookshire's.

Not in the ones I've eaten at in Louisiana and Texas. They have been clean and bug free.

I could eat Hellman's mayo with a spoon. It is the only brand I like at all. Ketchup? Can't stand the stuff.

That would indeed be unusual. I have never been in any Whataburger anywhere which was not at least acceptably clean.
